Is eberron designed to alow us to use books such as the complete Arcane and races of the wild? I know that it's up to the DM But was it desined to allow these books? And has anyone seen any problems using any of the additoin non 3 cor books with eberrron?

It is really up to the DM. The ECSB states on page 8 that anything in the PHB, DMG, and MM has a place somewhere in Eberron. Depending on who you ask, this has been interpreted to mean that everything can and should be used/can and could be used/or can but shouldn't be used. I personally don't like mixing tons of other supplemental material in my Eberron campaigns. I like the setting as it is in the setting book.

Apart from that tidbit, this page right here (http://www.coveworld.net/eberron/conversions.html) features conversions for Eberron regarding the three "Complete" books as well as conversions for the XPH and the Miniatures book.

good web page i have been there before. The reason i ask is i'm planning on running an ebberon campain sometime in the near future and i was trying to think of what books to limit my players with. I'm almost thinking of just Miniute and the coplete books and not letting anything form the other books cominto play with out a specific request

I think the "Everything is subject to DM approval" is a good rule to go by. It allows the player and the DM to collaborate on matters and really delve into how choices to include a race/prestige class/etc. will fit into and impact the story and the setting.

Agreed that this is very much a "DM choice" question. There are some things in Complete Arcane, for example, that I might allow (it seems possible that Aundair fielded warmages during the Last War), and others that I definitely would not (I think the spell-like ability feats would steal thunder from the dragonmarked houses). With that said, I'll point out that the current Dragonshard makes a mention of kobold favored souls--so apparently, as far as TPTB are concerned, material from the Complete Splat series isn't banned in Eberron.

No, the ECS was printed before these books were finalized in many cases, so it couldn't have been designed to work with any of them.

Is the material in them compatible with Eberron?
Some is, some isn't. All of it will take converting to one extent or another, and some of it is just so bleedin' crazy that it won't work at all.

Its a case by case decision, mainly. There isn't a book out there that isn't in the Eberron line already that is 100% compatible with the setting, and there aren't any out there that are 100% incompatible. You just gotta sort through and try to pick out the diamonds in the rough (although there's a lot rough these days).

Nice thing about EPH, Complete, etc.. Not being guaranteed. is you can come up with a truly original concept..

I had a Half Giant Lhazaar Prince who his mother had been raped by a Giant and during the birth had died. (He was a large baby) - so he never knew he was REALLY different. He just figured he was gifted. He used his physical power to climb to the status of a Prince. -shrug- I prefer to make up my own things, not be forced to be the traditional "Well they come from here..you have to be from here"

If you're a race that doesn't have a set spot, you can create your own original origin.. Magical, mystical, Divine, whatever..

And for classes that aren't set in the setting, you can be the designer of a new combat style..

The recent Dragon article by Keith (on Umbragen: Xen'drik Drow) makes specific reference to both Warlocks (from Complete Arcane) and Soulknives (from Expanded Psionics).

Of course it's always up to the DM, but it certainly seems like anything you want to find a place for in Eberron you probably can.

I would call the XPH, the classes, powers and items at least, as being already in Eberron. Kalashtar have a Favored Class of Psion, for example, and thats in the ECS.

I agree with all these answers. The one thing I'd add is to be careful when adding races. The Eberron Journal lists some ideas for converting the XPH races, but I wouldn't use more than one of those unless I was playing a really psi-oriented campaign. The same goes for the Races races. You can find a place for any of them, but things get messy quick. The history of the "blessed peoples" or common races is so nicely done that any other intelligent race runs the risk of feeling tacked-on.

There are two psionic races I allow into Eberron.
The Elans, who are essentially just humans that have undergone a ritual (I use the whole "quori prison" route in my games), and half-giants, which inhabit the islands to the north of Xen-Drik, the descendants of Quori sympathisers that turned tail and ran for it when it was clear the giants were going to win thanks to draconic intervention. They ran, and when the dragons came to destroy the giants, they got overlooked. Now the race is all but breed out, but they retained their psionic tendancies.

I could also see placing the Catfolk on the Talenta Plains, and the Goliaths in the Ironroot Mountains. Illumans and Raptorans though, I don't really see a place for them.

Heh, there's always Xen'Drik for stuff like that. But I make my PC's come up with a damn good reason why they're in Khorvare. As for those flying Raptorians, I think I could place them out in the Eldeen Reaches, Shadow Marches, or in some hidden valley in Aundair. I think they might feel right at home in Sharn. They'd build their tree-house things in some of the parks and have no problems with mobility.
