Just touching base. Despite some distractions and business travel, my group's about half way through Part two of the adventure, and it's generally going well.

I've had a few occasions where I upped the ECL 'incorrectly'. Increasing the number of foes was generally a poorer choice than increasing individual threats to match the party. For example, Dura ir' Matellan, cleric 12, plus 12 Karrnathi zombies and 12 Emerald Claw warrior 4s, was a poor encounter. The players used area effect spells to eliminate the zombies and soldiers almost instantaneously.

Other things worked well, and I'm finding the plot as a whole is easily adapted to higher levels, of course.

I have one PC who got captured by the temple guards and wound up just about two levels behind by the time he was found and rescued, but that will sort itself out over the course of Part Two.

Boosting Part Two monsters by 5-6 CR points means I'm seeing some hit point totals up around two to three hundred. But the PCs pack tremendous firepower thanks to a spellray sniper, a bard who regularly sings to grant +3 bonus in combat, and melee and ranged attackers armed with lesser crystals of energy assault.

Yes, for a party that likes their "jobs" and takes out their tackles as per "the plan," EotLQ is a pretty by the numbers trek.

As for my poor Urban Ranger / Rogue / Master Inqusitive from House Medani, I am relegated to SA's and serving as the living polygraph test if we manage to capture someone and need to pump them for information.

Not particularly exciting but then again no one put a gun to my head and forced me to make a detective. :(
