So with the other thread about this adventure asking about experiences with it, I have some questions and concerns, so I thought that I'd start a new thread instead of highjacking the other one.

First, a radiant idol is supposed to be immune to pertification, per the Sharn sourcebook. So how did the Idol become petrified? I realize that I can house-rule some powerful magic of the Lords of Dust overcame the immunity, but I'm interested to see how other DMs dealt with this, if they did at all.

Second, in the blink dog maze in the remanents of the Glass Tower, the description states that there are low walls and spikes of glass on the floor that function as caltrops. The tower supposedly inverted as it fell, and the ceiling is now the floor and vice versa, right? So this means that there were low "walls" and spikes of glass on the ceiling when the tower was still intact and floating in Skyway, right? Why would someone build in the spikes and walls on the ceiling? It doesn't make sense to me. I want to keep these obstacles, as they make the initial battle with the blink dogs more interesting, but I cannot justify it in my mind. Any ideas?

I just ran a party through the maze.

I decided that the spikes emerged from the walls, floor and ceiling of those squares, replicating a spike stones spell but nonmagical. the low barriers were movable stone blocks, kind of like the antivehicle barricades in front of government buildings. When the Tower inverted, the stone blocks simply fell in place.

Oooo...Good ideas. Consider them "borrowed" in case my party asks.

This is indeed supposed to be the work on magic beyond mortal ken - some sort of artifact or similarly powerful device. The fact that Sythrael's curse was powerful enough to bring down a location he was touching is intended to indicate that he was an especially powerful radiant idol; this was a conflict between two very powerful spirits, not just a couple of monsters slugging it out.

But, good catch. ;)

This was not made clear, but these obstacles were supposed to have actually been created by past memeliths - they were built by the current inhabitants of the inverted tower.

Good questions, and great answers, guys. I have one more question. It may seem inconsequntial. But the players I referee for thrive on details.

My understanding is that Glass Tower was a floating tower. Meaning, it was not attached to the ground, just like the whole of Skyway - except Glass Tower was a single, hovering edifice. So, it was not a traditional ground building that slumped over. Glass Tower was an airborne structure that fell from the open air and slammed into the ground like a meteor.

Am I understanding this right?

Thanks again. Good thread.

That's pretty much how I interpreted it. I didn't think of it as separate from Skyway, but your theory makes sense.

This is correct.

I was wracking my brains trying to figure out which District the Glass Tower was in, so that when it fell it'd crush Godsgate and spare the rest of the City...

Now I can envision it.

I am still having trouble figuring out where the Glass Tower fell. I have been looking through Sharn: City of towers and just can't find it. I hate that they won't index these books.

Agreed, the indexing is beyond horrible in all the WoTC books

Can someone help me find on any of the maps where this event took place? I am stumped.
