Favored in House guidelines [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-30-05, 10:12 AM Hopefully this will be a fairly simple question. Does anyone have any guidelines for making use of the Favored in House feat? What are reasonable limits on what can be requested? Should requests generate an obligation on the character's part toward the House? Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I see that feat as "greasing the wheels". It represents someone who has the right connections.

IMG, any member of the House can do the equivalent of "favored in house"... but, unless you have the feat
1) It MUST be well roleplayed, Diplomacy a must.
2) Each favor must be repaid. Sure, Mr. d'Orien, we'll let you and your friends travel at half-price on this trip... BUT, we have need of your services. There's this Xendrix creature we captured. Yes, it's in the box, the one chained to the floor with the "do not open" sign...

With the feat, I see this as calling up "Cousin Vinnie" (maybe literally if you're a halfling in Sharn), making "arrangements", House agents recognizing your importance, etc. without necessarily having to "pay back", unless teh favor is HUGE (A battalion of Deneith mercs, for example, or usage of an Altar of Resurrection)

As for guidelines?
- Half price on services, maybe free for the Feat owner and 1/2 price to associates.
- Availability of services not normally offered (Altar of Resurrection?)
- Referrals
- Information not readily available

All within the services the House would normally offer, of couse.

Ex: Ghandalla isn't in the business of offering Mercenary services. But, if you ask nicely, they might point you in the direction of some dino-riding lunatics for hire. In Sharn, they might but you in contact with the Boromars. However, you can stay for free at one of their hostels...
