| the shaderaven01-07-05, 06:41 AM | Well, first can anyone tell me is there a plase to find out how are the names of the different landmarks in Eberon pronounced? As a non-native speaker it is really difficult for me and my gaming group to figure how are things like Aundair or Khorvaire pronounced. Second, are they any more detailed statistics for the major Eberronean NPCs? Like feats, skills and most equipment? My DM doest really like wasting his time in generating NPCs and if I do it for him - this would put the not-so-welcome element of metagame latter when we encounter them. And third - has there been any Dragonshard on shifters yet? And can you give me some general tip for playing a shifter character. The shifter I'm going to play is ranger/rogue so he is more of the cunning than the tear-'em-appart type (though not always so). Any guideline for playing him or any suggestions for a good name for that character* are welcome. * In case you would like a little more info about this character - he would end up as a rogue/ranger (FE: humans)/weretouched master (tiger)/horizon walker. He grew up on the Valanarian border and has a strong mistrust for the Silver Flame and respect for the elves due to reasons from his past. He is currently earning his living as a boutny hunter. |

For detailed NPC stats, check out the Sharn sourcebook, and you could do worse than having a check back at one of the Dragonshards - it detailed the Daughters of Sora Kell. I don't think there's been an article devoted purely to Shifters... |

How is it wasting time to develop a good villain? It's part of the job. Also, a lot of the named NPCs fill leadership roles and are not necessarily good direct foes for the party. That's what evil henchmen are for. For instance, the PCs won't have a hard time defeating a nobleman in a fight, but they will have trouble with his assassins and his cunning intrigues. |
| MarkB01-07-05, 08:53 AM | It's unlikely we'll see a Dragonshard on shifters in the near future - they're one of the four races due to be covered in detail in the forthcoming Races of Eberron book, so I don't think Keith will be able to write detailed information which pre-empts the content of the book. |

As far as NPC statistics go, I recently snagged a book called Ultimate NPCs. You'll find it easily with a Google search. It's a bit pricey and, In my opinion, the layout and art direction isn't on par with what lots of other d20 companies have put out there, but still might be a great help to a DM without time, motivation, or both! Since it is campaign-generic, your DM would probably want to substitute some Eberron-specific feats for the standard feats given, but that's not a biggie. Also, all of the Eberron products (adventure modules and Sharn)have numerous NPCs that are ready to use for a variety of purposes with quick name changes and some tweaking. Other than that, no, I haven't found any treasure trove of free, ready-to-use Eberron NPCs statted up on the internet. Finally, nope, no specific description of Shifters in the Dragonshards articles yet. However, they were discussed in an article in Dragon magazine. I am not sure whether or not there is more desciption there than could be found in the ECS, though. Looking at the Paizo website, it was issue #317. Good gaming! |
