| WilliamPall09-16-04, 08:06 PM | Greetings all . . . I have been thinking about an idea for the past few weeks as my group has been moving through the various adventures (first Forgotten Forge, then Queen of the Burning Eyes, and now ½ way through Shadows of the Last War). Now, with these adventures, they've run across ancient schema for creating something . . . But what? My thoughts of what purpose the scema that my group is collecting has piqued my interest. Now, if I remember correctly, in the game world the only one who is supposed to offically know is Merrix d'Cannith. But out of character, the only one who's supposed to know is the DM . . uh, me. Now, I have an idea . . . but I need some help fleshing it out. My idea is that since WarForged were originally created from ancient relics and such originally left in Xen'drik from ages long past, and seeing as how the schema are also from the same source, that the schema are directly connected to WarForged. It would explain how and why the Lord of Blades would want them. Now, my idea for what they will do when completed is allow some method to WarForged for natural procreation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it would suddenly give WarForged anatomically functional features . . . I'm not saying that WarForged would need to need to use the method. Just that it would give the race the option for procreation. I think that until Warforged have a means of natural procreation they can't really be considered a race. Any opinions? [constructive] critizism? Idea's to flesh out the idea? Should I scrap it? |
| Save-vs-DM09-17-04, 03:54 AM | That's a highly interesting idea. I think it makes a lot of sense, actually. Cheers, Save vs DM |
| Saurenda09-17-04, 08:04 AM | I agree, however; I do not think they have the means to do so. I am convinced they are intent on learnign the secrets of the forge which LoB sturggles with. Thats in my opinion why he needs the schemas. So yes he is looking for a way to create warforged, but not he is not looking to become a father. More like the father of his nation and a father in the sense that he will provides the means of creation. This will ensure the future of his people, something which Thronehold denied him. Yes, Warforged need a means of procreation to be considered a race. They need the creation Forges active again. Also Creation forges will create weapons and magic items for them as well to enchance themselves. |
| WilliamPall09-17-04, 08:34 AM | I agree with you that the LoB's does not want to become a father himself. But I don't think that would stop him from seeing the WarForged as a whole on the endangered species list and need need of some way to be able to propogate the species. He wants the pattern and a schema because e feels that since they were designed with WarForged in mind (or whatever it is that WarFroged are derived from), that they should go to the WarForged. House Cannith wants them because as the people that used the blueprints in Xen-drik that made the WarForged, they want to be able to remain control of them. the Treaty of Thronehold was a blow to them when WarForged were allowed to be considered people. As to idea's why the Emerald Claw wants the schema . . . I'm not sure. But I also don't have WotVB yet. |
| Athos09-17-04, 09:36 AM | Now the emerald claw was my fist thought, why would they be after it, this obviously ties in the Blood of Vol, and if she's after it, you know it can't be a good thing, maybe whatevery it makes is somewhat tied to the dragonmark of death, maybe the warforged are related to the mark of death. |
| ChronosCrow09-17-04, 10:36 AM | Like everyone else I worry a bit more about the Emerald Claw relating to your idea than the Lord of Blades. Really, my idea of what the schema made was something more along the lines of the machine at the end of the SotLW. I think it's some kind of mass destruction machine that is powered by huge amounts of magic. Lord of the Blades wants it for the destruction of all the other races on Khorvaire, the Emerald Claw wants it for anyone that crosses Vol's path, and House Cannith can either want it to keep it out of everyone else's hands or they could be more sinister and actually intend to use it too. |
| ChronosCrow09-17-04, 10:38 AM | ... maybe the warforged are related to the mark of death. Oh neat, that's a pretty interesting idea. I don't really get it though, the warforged are living constructs, but then again maybe there's some kind of bridge that the mark can cross that allows House Cannith access to souls for warforged. |
| Athos09-17-04, 10:49 AM | but let's all remember that we don't want to unravel all the secrets of eberron on her first campain. Let's look at it like this, both the lord of blades and the emerald claw is after it, that means it could have implications on either the blood of vol of the warforged, or neither, remeber sometimes groups are after things that other's are just becuse there after them, they could have no Idea why there after them, just that "Hey if they want it it must be good." |
| ChronosCrow09-17-04, 12:57 PM | ... sometimes groups are after things that other's are just becuse there after them, they could have no Idea why there after them, just that "Hey if they want it it must be good." How true, how very true. |
