| Lord Karsus04-22-08, 11:50 AM | -I don't know how many people are aware of it, but when 4e debuts, the boards will be undergoing a rather massive reorganization. Fourth Edition will take prominence, and Third Edition will be put on the back burner. As it should be, I have no problem with that. -The Forgotten Realms/Eberron sections were not on Gamer Zer0's original draft of what the new WotC Messageboard layout. While there is no doubt in my mind that they will 'ported over in the boards reorganization, the form both the Forgotten Realms and the Eberron sections take is in jeopardy. I've already suggested that they be brought over in the forms they take now: Forgotten Realms Faerūnian People & Places Classes, Races & Monsters Magic, Deities & The Cosmos Combat, Arms & Armor Forgotten Realms General Eberron Classes, Races & Monsters Magic, Deities & The Cosmos Combat, Arms & Armor People & Places Eberron General -Now, others have posted that both sections be condensed into a board. I feel- and I am sure many others feel the same- that this is not a good strategy, as the Forgotten Realms, and Eberron contain too much information to effectivley keep in a single board, as individual threads will pop up with enough frequency to push other threads and discussions into the oblivion of being on the third page, or something worse. If you feel as I do, or have a completely different idea, please, share them on THIS (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1015243&) thread. |
| Amaril04-22-08, 12:57 PM | This has been discussed already. See below. Does anyone know what will happen to these forums after 4e is released? Will they simply keep the forum as is and allow members to discuss whichever version they'd like, or will they can these forums and make them 4e only? Based on the discussions going on at RPG Boards Business, it looks like the Eberron boards will remain as they are, but the 4E Eberron board will probably be folded into these. Since most of the discussions here are about fluff rather than mechanics, you probably won't notice much of a difference. I expect you'll probably have to discuss new Eberron 3E material on the new 3E board, and stick to new 4E rules here. |
| Lord Karsus04-22-08, 02:49 PM | -I simply posted this here as a "favor" to the Eberron people. I am primarily interested in the Forgotten Realms, and don't actually like Eberron very much, but I felt the reorganization of both boards should be handled similarly. :) -Note that the information in the link provided. |

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? My point is that fighting for the forums is moot. There's nothing to fight for. They aren't going anywhere because they will be right here and will not be exclusive to 4e as I understand it. Thus you don't need a 3e version of FR or Eberron forums in the 3e boards. |

There is going to be a "D&D Forum". Whether Forgotten Realms and Eberron remain separate forums are get consolidated into the D&D Forums depends entirely on CM's evaluation. one of the criteria they have been using for evaluation is the volume of traffic on those forums. -I/We are "campaigning" that the future Forgotten Realms/Eberron forums recieve more than just one section a each, and retain the "subsections" they already have. |

And where was it communicated that the Eberron and FR forums would not retain the subsections? PS - For the record, I personally would prefer a single Eberron forum. I sometimes find it difficult to find where I saw a particular thread as well as to determine which subsection I should post a question that might relate to more than one subject area. In terms of keeping up with new thread topics, that's what the RSS feeds are for. Before you say, "I don't understand/use RSS feeds," I'll answer with, "You should." :P |
| Lord Karsus04-22-08, 03:35 PM | And where was it communicated that the Eberron and FR forums would not retain the subsections? -All of the forums will be experiencing a "shake up" in the reorganization. G0 is looking for ideas and imput. Whereas I suggested things stay as they are, with the Forgotten Realms and Eberron retaining their subsections, others have suggested that they all be consolidated into one single board. As this is not a very good idea concerning the Forgotten Realms, again, I am speaking for Eberron, too. |
