Seriously people hollywood has dropped hundreds of plot ideas right in our laps that can be mined for excelent story / character background potential!

It doesn't even have to be an action flick, swashbuckling or even good! Take this for example. Just talk with your GM about it first since it involves a bit of railroading. Still, what GM wouldn't want a free adventure idea tossed in his lap?

Your new PC is a thief. Not a rogue, a dyed in the wool theif. Once, once he managed to tag along on an expedition to Xen'Drik and snagged himself a diamond encrusted idol. Worth enough to retire on, but he couldn't manage to keep a hold of it so he stashed it behind a loose stone in a ruined room. Now, several years later he is striving to get back to that place, snag that idol which MUST still be there and retire in luxury. And hey! The party has found a map of about the right area! Good thing you are an accomplished forger. A little alteration here and there and presto! You are on your way to the biggest payoff of your life.

One snag. When you get there the place has become an outpost for the Brelish Citadel! A bit of fast talking and the party is convinced this is still the right place and proceed with whatever plan they have cooked up. You however are going to get in there and get your treasure. You know you are sneaky enough to get in there and get out, but of course there are complications and concequences. Still, nothing ventured, nothing lost, right?

It is just a minor idea to pitch to your GM, but it just might work out if he can balance tricking the party with some unexpected reward for the rest of the group. Or it could be something to pitch to a likely PC for character background or the first adventure in your game that you plan on coming back to later, without the trickery from one PC part.

And to think... all you had to do is to hack off enough bits from Blue Streak (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181316/) to leave just the few bones you need. Of course, this works best if nobody else in the group has seen Blue Streak or else you risk ruining your game with Martin Lawrence impersonations.

Now I REALLY have to go to sleep, but maybe a few other people have a fleshy chunk of a movie to stitch into a totally unrelated flesh golem of adventure?

Filing the serial numbers off of The Count of Monte Cristo (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245844/):

Betrayed and framed by their jealous former friend (Sir Badguy), the party is thrown into Dreadhold, where they are tortured and beaten for years despite their innocence. The PCs might even spend years even locating one another in the labyrinthine prison, but by befriending the local cellmates and exploiting a cleric's 40-year spoon-dug tunnel project, they manage to escape their cells.

Through fighting and trickery they have to make their way out of the prison and to the edge of the island.

Meanwhile they've learned legends of a hoard of gold and jewels left by an old sea captain somewhere on the island. Through their digging they've actually found a map that contains a mysterious riddle.

The PCs solve the riddle, locate the treasure and become rich. But their work is not over. They must use their new riches to finance their revenge -- a way to humiliate and utterly destroy Sir Badguy, expose the conspiracy around him, recover their own good names, and perhaps help release all the other innocent political prisoners in Dreadhold.

Nice! Might wand to slap some parts stolen off of The Great Escape (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057115/) though so that the prison sequences don't just blur by in a montage.

It would be so, so easy to do this with Blade, and have a party of magically decked-out heroes waging a private war against the Blood of Vol...

Ja'aki Shohn, top agent of the sharrat'kesh (or the other one, i dunno), goes into Zilargo to hunt for the kidnappped daughter of the Lhesh Haruuc. Only problem? His Zilargan partner, a fast talking gnomish bard on the edge of removal from the Trust. Together they must go on a series of comical action scenes to save the day and the girl.

Hey, this sounds like a plan... Romancing the Stone! I wander what kind of vehicle "Little Mule" should be...

Or better yet, The First Great Train Robbery. Or any other "great heist" movie :-)

Princess Mononoke (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119698/) has great potential:

A young warrior in the party becomes cursed by a [ghost / demon / monster]. Believing that Oalian and the druids of the Eldeen Reaches may know of a cure, the party must journey there. During the journey the party finds itself in the middle of a war between the forest denizens of the Towering Wood and the humans of a nearby mining colony. They must help settle the dispute between the two sides and prevent the destruction of one of the old gods of the forest (who may be able to help with the curse that led the party here). In this quest they also meet a young girl, a human who has taken to the wilds and considers herself princess of the Wood. She is attended by enormous wolves and fights fiercely for the side of Nature.

Whose side is the party on? What natural disaster are the humans of the mining town causing? Is the time of the Towering Wood over? What might the Wardens of the Wood do when threatened? What substance is being mined?

Funny you should mention that, in the old "Why no guns in eberron?" thread, I posted the very same idea :)

Albeit mine was just meant to be a way to have gunpowder in Ebberon, in a fun and restricted way. Also, the idea that something in the process of making those guns corrupts anything shot by them is a great plot device. Are Khyber shards used in some way? Are demons involved? Remnants from the war against the Daelkyr?

When it comes to ripping Mononoke, don't make her a human girl living with wolves... make her a SHIFTER girl raised by wolves. Definately higher level with the PrC for Shifters. Bringing the 'wolf girl' to a new level, she could actually be what's causing the problems. WOuldn't need giant wolves, but a pack of advanced 'normal' wolves wouldn't hurt.

Or perhaps the mining operation is digging up Kyber shards in great numbers. The town sprung up almost overnight, like a Gold Rush town from back in the day, and they are pulling up these purplish-black crystals at an astounding rate. The effects of all these shards are poisoning and tainting the nearby spirits of the wood (In other words: Corrupted Template on advanced Creatures of Legend), and it's all being orchestrated by some creature from the depths who can disguise itself as a human. It has been working at convincing creatures in the depths to 'place' the shards in the area using magic, and is wanting those above to stockpile them on one mass... The being is working to taint the land for a Daelkyr below...

...and the 'wolf girl' can be the shifter listed above... or maybe she's a Half-Orc Druid of the Gatekeeper sect... Neutral Evil, but intent on preserving nature. Now she CAN attack them at will, taking on various forms (I think Warshaper is appropriate here) usually of a canine bent, and traveling with a wolf animal companion (or, if this is a higher level adventure, a Horrid Wolf animal companion). Might even want to shape into a creature like her companion, so these two large wolves are always seen raiding caravans...
