Final Fantasy characters converted to Eberron? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Here's the deal: I'm generating the outline for the first part of a new Eberron campaign. In an effort to please my players, I ask them what they want to see in this campaign. This produces interesting results.

One has recently "acquired" the FF VII: Advent Children movie, and is still on a buzz from it.

One really enjoys high octane games, so he thinks Eberron will be fun. He wants a good story to connect the other elements of the game.

A third just enjoys anime and games WAY too much, and has expressed interest in seeing characters from games make an appearance in Eberron.

The fourth, and as of now final player doesn't seem to understand the concept of dynamic, rounded, or otherwise non-flat and static characters. I plan to finish his "long-term" goal fairly early in the game so he actually has to think about his character for a while.

I myself just finished a replay of Final Fantasy VII, and I've been thinking about incorporating some things from FF into a game.

The common thread tying all of these separate things together is an interest in seeing some characters based off Final Fantasy characters in the game. After asking further, the players indicate a desire not for clones, but for characters oriented on the concept of certain FF characters.

So, my proposition runs thusly: Help me make some Final Fantasy based NPCs for my Eberron game. I have already begun work on some, and will post them later. Thanks for listening!

Um, Cloud is a Fighter with a greatsword.
Barret is a Fighter/Rogue with a WF armbow graft.
Aeris is a Cleric.
Yufi is a Rogue.

Its pretty easy :)

Fighter and Rogue levels, possibly add Thief-Acrobat

I can't really remember the basis. Possibly because I don't feel like it. Easy to work a bit with feats and Rogue abilities, go for a light-armored, quick warrior. Works best with later FF game characters for basis, seeing as early ones used a lot more actual armor.

Make character that becomes a Knight Phantom, or a Bone Knight for a couple different variations on the Dark Knight idea from FF3j and FFIVj. FFIVj version would need spells, though, so a bit of spellsword might be in order.

If the players identify mostly with recent FF games, an Artificer/Rogue would work well for a Rikku-like character. As for FFIX, the base classes combined with DMG PrC's would work, although the Knight class here on the boards would be best for a Steiner-esque character.

And you already know how I feel about gunblade wielders.

And, on another note, you should turn your phone on more often, or at least respond to emails I send you.

Oh, and the name was an idea, but it's mine, so you'll have to ask me for it. Nicely.

You could probably find a bunch of FF characters on the d20 Anime board.

Or the Final Fantasy campaign setting over on the homebrew board :)

Tifa is a monk
All of the leading ff males are fighters, except Ramza (who overloaded the system by raping multiclass and changes his sheet when the dm isn't looking) and Zidane (I'm guessing a fighter/theif with some strange prestige class?) and Cecil who starts as some kind of house ruled Paladin of evil, and becomes a bog standarn Paladin
Yuna is run by the gms girlfriend who seduced him into making an overpowered class, then changing it from something from d20 modern.
Freya is a multieclass fighter and cleric, with levels in the Dragoon prestige class from Silver dragon (you know, the one that ISN'T stupidly broken).
Kain is just a fighter who went on to Dragoon
Most of the thers are either obvious, or unclassable.
The cast off ff5 are whatever they feel like in the morning :p
