In the later days of The Last War, a hag emerged from Droaam, and settled it's self in a cave in Breland/ Thrane. When some people(important military types) found out about this, they immediatly thought of slaying the beast for glory.Well, when they arrived the Hag was mumbling something about "2 by the walls, 2 by by the aqueduct" Then vanished. Well, when the people heard this, they just felt the hag insane. Until they returned home to their families on leave, they learned that the Karns had used a decoy tactic , 2 units led an assault at the walls, while 2 more poisoned the water source, and fled. Everyone who was in the village had died, including the House Sivis messengers. Each of the commanders immediately saw it, beyond the grief of loss. This hag was a seer, not the garden variety monster, but a creature who's dark powers could be exploited to millitary application.

Each became great strategists after that, seeming to predict on their own what the enemy would be doing and when.

After the war the commanders kept this a secret, but were very disturbed at their actions.

Now the Hag is in danger. Recently she recieved a vision on what The daughters of Sora Kell, are planning, and seeks to stop them, due to personal vendettas. The catch of course is that Sora Terza ( I think that is the dusk hag), has had a similar vision- a vision in wich another Dusk Hag gets a vision, detailing Droaam's plans, and knows that an attack based on those predictions would surely halt the process. Recently the Daughters have sent a hunting party to find this insulant hag, and silence her, for eternity.

BUT, the hag in Beland/Thrane, has also recieved a vision of her death, and has been setting up her lair, so she can allow those who are "Destined" to be her champions against the daughters.

First I have a couple of questions before you say I suck.

1- are pools of fresh blood reflective?
2-How is this story, do I have my bases covered?
3-What level would you suggest to start this game out, I was thinking 1-3rd.

Thank you for the help.

Note destined is in "'s because It is not prophetic, but merely a belief that the hag has placed in her future finders. IE PC's!

1- are pools of fresh blood reflective?

Yes, as long as it's fresh and doesn't have too many bits of foam, brain, flesh or bone floating in it.

2-How is this story, do I have my bases covered?

Yes and no. What you have is a back story. It's fine but it doesn't tell me about what the PCs will need to do.
Some ideas:
How do the PCs get involved?
One of the generals is now a drunk, tortured by visions. He hires the PCs to find the hag and try and stop the visions.
The PCs are protecting a caravan on its way to Sharn through the area the hag is situated in. They see signs of a group of gnolls having passed this way recently and investigate. The gnolls are the first attempt to silence the hag.
One of the PCs is the child of one of the generals. He died and has left some papers in his will. The papers include an account of the meeting with the hag. A rough map is included.

What do the PCs need to do?
They need to keep the hag alive until she can tell someone of Droaam's plans.
They have to ensure that Droaam's plans are foiled (and make serious enemies of the Daughters of Sora Kell)
Weigh up whether it is better to allow Droaam's plans to succeed or make enemies of the Daughters.
Stop Droaam's plans and then deliver the hag to the Daughters (and hope that clears the slate)

What are Droaam's plans?
Start a war between Thrane and Karn (gets all those bl**dy paladins off their back)
Get hold a magic item
Assassinate someone
Annexe some land

3-What level would you suggest to start this game out, I was thinking 1-3rd.
If the hag has attracted the attentions of the Daughters they will probably send a sizeable force, or at least a powerful force to take her out. If the PCS are goingt to have to stop it, they will need to be pretty good. But, they could spend the entire adventure avoiding some nasty monster and never actually face it.
If you think this will be a campaign rather than simply an adventure I would say to start them at first level and introduce them to the meat and potatoes of the campaign (ie the bit above) when they are about 5th. Throughout the early adventures you can allude to the hag watching them, signs, a fleeting glimpse, a recurring symbol etc

How do the PCs get involved?

This would be a "hey, you, pretty ladies/men you appear to be able to hold your own in a fight, care to make a few soverigns?" style intro, and the soverign award would be quite high(IE as high as I need to go before PC's say yes, but not telling them", as the "Employer's" are quiet rich. Of course the "old woman" they are to defend in NOT a hag.. .according to the NPC's at least.(NPC's still awaiting write up)

What do the PCs need to do?

Fight the "lesser" portions of the hunting party (Assuming level one the party is, 6 gnolls (1 at a time ecxept the last, wich will accompany the flind, and one flind, But the one that the PC's may have no knowledge about would be the war troll, that kills the awaiting hag, unless the PC's can foil it, but I doubt they could, but it is there), but the ability to stop the killing is there, I would not force, what a new GMhas refered to "FMV" to happen,as it isn't fair.
After that the PC's would probably search the monster's lair for treasure, and or notice the pooling blood, that reflects a small tablet detailing what needs to be done to stop (Not battle the daughters) the daughters plan, whisking them from sharn, to Xendirk, to Hravator (Still can't spell it right), and eventually to Seren in future adventures, that tie in. Of course those willn't happen instantly. Really this is meant for the first adventureers to show, up which is convieniently the PC's...

What are Droaam's plans?

The sisters, still not in "Complete control", are searching for 4 items that no monster would be able denies power (IE something like a weird national pride banner, but with magic and other stuff..) One object lies in Sharn, where the Daask has been frevrently looking for it, another is in Xendrik, once possesed by giant hands, one lies in the vaults of the holy dragons (If I remeber it is called that) in Harvaktor, and one used to lie in the hands of the dragons, but now is worshipped as a draconic monument on Serren.

With these 4 items no monster could deny the Hags right to lead, but they may not like it. When the hags assemble the 4 items, they can finally take on Breland in a straight up fight, and take it over militarily, and become a sweeping plague, of regenerating goodness....
