Do you have some ideas for story ? Some plots ? He is more into rolepaying, not h&s...

How about this: he's been caught stealing some of the king's livestock( you know the stuff, deer owned by him for hunting purposes), and it comes into the open, just as he tries to get citizenship. The catch is that he's been framed.

He has to clear the court case and obtain citizenship via proving himself innocent and lots of good talking. Catching said guy who framed him would be nice too.

Meanwhile, house thuranni or some such house sneaky comes along and offers him a deal, they will "convince the necessary men" for him, plus help find and catch the annoying RRF(Random Ranger Framer). But it won't come for free... there's something they need to have/know/have dead etc.(adventure time!).

If you can tie the RRF in as some guy who has a connection with the ranger from before and hates him for some reason or the other(ask him/her for details on his/her character's history/hertory), so much the better.

Finally, mind flayer to taste and have fun!

Someone's being killing Ghost Tigers from the King's Forest and he is sent to find out. The tracks take him to Sharn, where he will discover a group of Cultists who believe if they make enough offerings of tiger Hearts at an ancient jade shrine that was recovered from Xen'drik, the gateway to Paradise will be revealed.

The shrine has several tiger designs on it and was recoved by a Wayfarer Expedition. The man who found it is now obessessed with finding Paradise and has formed a small group of cultists around him.

In the highly populated, metropolitan city of Sharn, an chilling series of murders are happening. The victims are torn to shreds, as if by a huge animal, but there are no witnesses to any such beast being seen. The Sharn Watch has been unable to determine what is happening, so they post a reward for anyone who can stop the murders.

From here you can use your imagination. What kind of a creature is it? Is it stealthy? Does it have access to illusion magic, perhaps from a mastermind? Is it not a beast at all, but a person mutilating corpses to throw the officials off his back?

How is it getting into Sharn? Teleportation magic? a secret passage in the catacombs under the city? Is it not leaving sharn at all?

When the player does find a clue, how will he know it's the right one? Will he find several suspects he can persue? Will he track false leads?

Since he's a ranger, you may want to tailor it to his specific class. Including some journeys into the King's Forest is a good idea! I'd personally have him head into the forest on a false lead, kill the beast he thinks is doing the murders, only to find that the real killer is in the forest with him. Now he's the one being hunted, and the killer (Whatever it is) seems to be playing games with him.

(adding to maollelujah's entry)

... What the cultists don't realize is that the tiger designs on the ring are not tigers at all, but actually engravings depicting five rakshasa lords and the rajah that they serve who are bound in the ring. The ring was not a relic of Xen'drick at all, but instead something transported there by the couatl after imprisoning these beings in the ring at the end of the Age of Demons. The ghost tiger sacrifices are working to un-bind the demons contained in the ring, and one graven image has already vanished from it's surface, which the cult has taken to mean that they are one-step closer to opening the portal. What it really mean, though, is that one of the rakshasa has already been released. This cunning fiend is now also working to free his compatriots and their dark lord.

Even if the cult is stopped, the freed rakshasa will continue trying to work to free the others, and may seek to use the PC to help accomplish it's goals... or destroy him in the process. ;)

Have him start on the Kings forest, a famous bandit Tree Viper is at large. and TV is a fair chalange for a starting charicter if your player is smart, give TV some mooks and have them cross him. After the defeat have him find, say an urgent message that must be carried to sharn, perhaps tying into the starter adventure at the back of the ECS? There your first two quests done. ( This is prety much what I did for my first Eberon campeghn) just rember that Ebberon has a medea and baging Tree viper should result in atleast local fame.

( tree viper and his Jungle boys are mentioned on page 150 of the ECS )

Start him off at level 4. Then you can run 1st level adventures from the ECS and onward to your hearts' content.

thanks people, thanks !
these are some really good ideas.

I will probable go with maollelujah & DragonWatcher ideas, just not so big, I mean not involving rakshasa, beacuse it is to hard for him... Maybe later, but not at beggining.

That idea that beezly has in mind is good too.

@all
Every one of you ideas has something I will use. :D

Any other ideas are wellcome at any time. :)

The ideas presented with the cultist and rakshasa are not simple adventure ideas, they are giving you advice on a campaign. You can easily have him start off at level 1 and just design it so that by the time he reaches Sharn he is level 3-4 which isn’t hard, the lower levels fly by. After he encounters the cultist he can begin fighting them and working on crippling the cult which could span several levels for even a small cult. The PC could be level 7-9 when he actually finds out that the cultist are unintentionally tied in with rakshasa and then you just take it from there. The bottom line is that he won’t be fighting a rajah at level 1 but for a campaign this is a great idea and if you tailor it some and do your homework I think you will find it very rewarding as will your player.
