Right, so I have two things I'm looking at doing in my campaign and I would like some feedback.

I'll start with House Cannith. The dragons want there to be 13 houses because of their prophecies and they contact my PC's telling them that they will have the posibility to unite Cannith and they will have to do so. Saying no to the Gold Dragon Wyrm is not an option.

They are currently in Xendrik and when they return back to stormreach they will be contacted by several of their earlier patrons and one new one wich all happen to have the same goal (for widley different reasons), to unite house cannith. The way they will do this is to kill two of the house leaders, leaving the last to have no opponents to sieze control of. They will have to be looted as well so to not see it as an assasination, and with some time between them (but not enough to let the power struggle properly arise)

My issue here is wich I can kill off. I'm pretty sure I want to kill off the one from Karrnath, Zorlan, because one of the patrons will be an Ambassador from Karrnath wich wants them to help him fight the blood of vol and he has strong ties to blood of vol. So that leaves with the two others, Merrix could be killed by support from their earlier patrons, a lady from house Cannith and the Brelands Dark Lanterns, the reason being that they have discovered his plans to build a warforged forge in stormreach. (Do you think the Anduir Royal Eyes would be interested in seing that happen as well?)

With those two accounted for that would leave Joarlanna, however she could possibly be wanted dead as well if someone discovered her secret lords of dust lover, however I think thats less likley then the reasons for the other two.

So, do you have any suggestions for the situation in general, the patrons or the killings themselves?

My second issue is Mournland. A bit later I will be sending my characters to Karrnath to fight the blood of Vol and help Kaius drive the Eberron Claw more away from Karrnath. I was planning on letting this end up with a connection to mournland (where they have been before), perhaps trough some creation of undead warforgeds or similar. But I was thinking about this perhaps leading up to some event where the PC's get the posibility of not only fixing mournland, but also restoring cyre to how it was before the explosion. How problematic would this be? I realize that it would create a lot of mayhem at first as cyre is still in warmode and have never signed the treaty of thronehold. What other issues should I expect and prepare for? This would be an event almost as big as the day of mourning itself.

btw: Im guessing they would have to enter or at least go the glowing chasm in Mournland.

Are you running an evil campaign? It sounds like you want your players to be assassins.

Why not try to ruin the other Barons politically, or in some non-fatal way (feeblemind or high level curse)? Murder is for amateurs, lol. Having the competition die off suddenly, no matter how innocent you made it look, would place suspicion on the one left. Or, they could kill one and blackmail Jorlanna into marrying Merrix.

If they could fix the Mournland in the name of one of the three Barons, that alone would probably unite the house under one patriarch.

I'd leave Merrix alive. He's the real power in House Cannith, and obviously WotC's favorite.

I ended up with changing it around a bit as I figured it fits my campaign more, both story and alignment wise.

What I'm thinking now is to let merrix and Jorlanna ally together (basicly, Jorlanna runs the thing and merrix is left alone to his studies) and then they party gets the order to take out Zorlan. Now, they are a reasonably good/neutral aligned crowd, but not fanaticly so and they will have more then enough reasons to kill of Zorlan. As I said he is heavily involved with blood of vol and possibly emerald claw and thats one of the partys main enemies. Also, they got ordered to do this by A dragon because of the draconic prophecies and no matter what theire personal belifes they won't easily defy that :)

But yes, I will make it a challenge for them alignment wise as they will be ordered to kill Zorlan and all guards and witnesses. And one of the peple riding with Zorlan is a 8 year old girl thats related to him. :)

While the main plot is fairly sound, the idea that a Gold Dragon Wyrm would not only openly contact a small group of adventurers form the 'lesser races' (regardless of their achievements), but let them in on the Prophecy in any way, shape, or form seems a bit ridiculous to me. By in large, the Dragons (whom I consider to be manipulative bastards, but that's my interpretation :D :P), see anyone other than themselves to be inferior, even the Good aligned ones. Sure, there are some exceptions (most notably Vvaraak of the Gatekeepers), but overall I find it hard to believe that any Dragon, much less one of such prestige, would involve themselves with the party in such an obvious way. Secrecy and deceit are more powerful weapons than any sword. I could see it taking on the guise of (or actually being) someone the party has grown to trust and encouraging the party that way, but...

The Dragons are incredibly intelligent, very, VERY patient, and quite crafty. They are also very secretive. To play them as anything but seems a bit of a disservice to some of the best who's-side-are-you-really-on characters in Eberron.

Well, as I see it if the dragons wanted something done they would not do it themselves but get others to intervene. He wont actually mention the prophecy. But yeah, I probably should put him in human form or some such. Because of the situation he appears in the players will realize he is no small fry, even though they prolly wont directly know he is actually a dragon.

Take note Kaizer my view of the Dragons is they're actually benevolent in my home game. So I think it's perfectly reasonable. They fill the role of "enlightened sages" in my games.

:-)

It's just our game is a tad different.

Why kill him? Plant irrefutable proof that he's been a naughty boy. All you have to do is doctor up a bit of evidence and get it spalshed all over the newsheets. Doesn't matter one bit if it's true or not, Zorlon will be finished before he can prove his innocence.

Yes as others have mentioned killing is the worst way to smoothly pass the reigns of leadership. Especially since all are presented with ready made opportunities to subvert them. Jorlanna is being manipulated by the LoD and Merrix is breaking the treaty of Thronehold and is said to not want to lead Cannith but merely wants to make sure whoever does end up leading is "right" for the job. IE will treat Merrix favorably and leave him alone. Zorlan is shady and has too many connections to the evil side of the BoV.

So right there if you can get dirt on Merrix and his forge in concrete evidence and/or convince/negotiate with him, possibly using your evidence to sway him, to accept the leadership of one of the others. It probably wouldn't take much more than a binding contractual agreement that will allow him to pursue his own agenda when it comes to experiments.

If you can gain concrete evidence of Jorlanna's illicit activites and/or handle the LoD agent for her exposing the manipulation and saving her you'll have considerable bargaining power and it's easy to justify the Dragon having the info to set them on this path.

If you can catch Zorlan in the middle of any number of shady dealings you can sway whatever popular support he has within Cannith East to a new candidate. Especially if the other two branches have already united.

The interesting thing about Cannith is that they only split a few years ago and it wasn't particularly bitter as it was with Phiarlan/Thurrani. They could easily sway either way. Permanent schism or reconciliation. They're just waiting for some PCs to come by. :)

To fix the Mournland you'll need to come up with an explanation for what the Mourning is and how it occured. Then you can go from there.

There are a billion issues with bring back Cyre post Mourning fully restored.
Having Cyre come back unharmed and fully restored is not only incredibly huge and world altering in every way I can imagine but it would also be completely nonsensical. It'd be one thing if Cyre was just gone but it's still there just ruined. When Cyre is restored what happens for example to items people have recovered from the Mournland? They have duplicates pop into existence? They just pop back? The warforged and other monstrous inhabitants currently living in the Mournland go where when Cyre springs back? What if a Cyrean corpse was recovered from the Mournland and buried elsewhere? Does he come back to life?

Cyre coming back is bigger than the day of Mourning. It means the Mourning isn't permanent, can be fixed and with almost no long term damage done. Ouch. The entire reason the 5N are at peace disappears with the reappearance (how ironic) of Cyre. Especially if Cyre still in warmode continues to press the issue of succession. When the Mourning happened there were numerous battles taking place inside of it. It's unlikely any of the 5 would sit back as their countrymen continue fighting and dying in Cyre unaware the world has changed.
