My character is a House Cannith Artificer that follows The Traveler. I was wondering what everyone’s opinion would be on taking the Martial Weapon Proficiency feat to get proficiency in the scimitar (The Travelers chosen weapon). I know it is not the best route for optimization but it could be pretty nifty. Also does anyone have any ideas on roleplaying a character like this that follows a Dark Six god? How would you effectively roleplay a Chaotic Neutral alignment? Thanks for any input!

First at all, following the Traveller doesn't mean being CN, or even C anything, this is eberron, even cleric of the traveller can be any alignement, let imagine followers.
But I think I'd play it as the Mad scientist archetype , maybe a little like doc Brown from "Back to the Future"

I would play him not quite as mad, but as a literal free thinker who comes up with the most weird sounding ideas for new items or constructs. He would carry around a lot notebooks in which he scribbles all the time.

Do you know Terry Pratchetts Leonardo da Quirm? I imagine him much like that, only less naive.

Remember that the Artificers sometime revere the Traveller as the source of inspiration, the random and fickle moment where your eyes open to possibilities you hadn't considered before.

I know it does not mean that I would have to be CN, I just want to play CN. I was just wanting some guidance flavor wise and stuff. Thanks for the input so far everyone!

Knowing how to wield a scimitar would be pretty nifty, but I'd deem it unescessary.
Remember the Traveller is not a god of war, and you exalt him through your incredible works and the change you bring to the world, rather than the weapon you wield.
As a smith, making scimitars would probably bring you closer to the divinity of the Traveller than fighting with them.

That is, of course, unless I'm contradicted by Faiths of Eberron. Oh well.
