| Guide D'Jorasco08-08-05, 09:05 AM | I am trying to compile a list of food and drink that would could be bought in Khorvaire. Maybe the Eberron community can help me design some beverages and meals to add to the texture of Eberron. |
| 645789008-08-05, 09:25 AM | Before any complains im going to say that this are exotic dishes... REALLy Expensive(at least when you compare it to other meals) Breakfeast -------Eggs with Legs------- A pair of eggs from magebread chickens are delicious, specially when they come with four crab legs and a hint of azer(MM3.5 21) spice. Typically eaten in company of orange juice (i have freaky tastes, please dont smack em so bad... :D) Lunch ------Fastieth(ECS 280) meal------- This heavy dish consists of 1/2 kg of fastieth meat, lettuce, tomatoes and usually spicy sauces(like Chimera(MM3.5 34) breath). Wine of any kind is usually selected by the wealthy for the meal. Frostwine and Aleeian wine(Arms and Equiptment Guide, page 31) make excellent choices. Halflings refuse to eat dinosaur meat. Dinner -------Cockatrice(MM3.5 37) wings----- The cockatrice wings have a distinct flavor, some say like stone, but those with refined tastes enjoy it thoroughly. The pair of wings come with potatoes and lettuce. I like my choicessssss... :D |
| dracogen08-08-05, 10:03 AM | Aundairian Platter A thick slab of dire boar shank grilled with fresh mushrooms and vegetables. A hearty stout goes down well with this. For dessert frest fruit. Talenta Omelet A dino egg omelet spiced with fresh herbs and other goodies. Feeds a family if made from a BIG egg. |
| Guide D'Jorasco08-08-05, 10:20 AM | Candy: Medusa Rock Candy- A favorite among the children of Zilargo and Breland. Fruit sweetened and hardened creates an almost everlasting piece of candy that retains it's sweetness for about 2 months. Xendrik Sugar Shoots- A straw like plant excreates a high amount of sugar from it's tip. The shoots are famous all over Stormreach and have made their way to Sharn as well. Drinks: Talenta Tamalin- A very sweet and honey full drink. It contains no alchol but the caffeine, combined with the sweet honey of the Trensixian Flower create a very soothing consumption. The honey and milky drink is said to cure sore throat and even headaches. Real Food: Spiced Aundairian Chicken- This chicken is wildly priced for his soft and tender meat, combined with spices for Riedera and combined with a soft spill of Talenta Tamalin. Combined with a hearty size of Wroat Pepper Bread, this can fill the stomachs of even the hungriest of Orcs. |
| cactusblue08-08-05, 05:02 PM | In my travels across Khorvaire I have tasted many exotic foods. The strangest was barbequed mud leeches served over marshan rice in the Shadow MArches. These leeches, over 6 inches long, were slow roasted over swamp oak chips soaked in some type of libation (a half-orc secret I guess?). Crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. A fan of spicy food, I like the "infusion" cuisine of southern Breland. A halfling dinosaur wrangler, whose grandfather came from Talenta, raises free ranged fastieths near Sharn. He sold these to a restaurant in Sharn called "South of the Border". At "the Border" their specialty is curried dino-tail with fried jade peppers, topped with cilantro. Next I'm off to Karrnath to sample a delicacy, Dead Head Cheese with Crimson Brandy dipping sauce. |
| jesterjeff08-08-05, 05:41 PM | Kennith Trava author of The Journeyman's Guide to Cuisine throughout Khorvaire, " I've been across the known world and have to say that tastes are as varied as faiths and appearances. A common Goblinoid dinner dish is venom stew. Wyvern 'chick' meat grilled over open flame and then stewed in it's own underdeveloped venomous secretions. This pre-venom is spiced and brought to a boil with root vegtables and herbs, then the wyvernflesh is stirred in and the stew is left to thicken for an hour before serving with a large plate of flatbread. While disturbing to human sensabilities, once over the fright of venom as a beast stock I must say that this was a thrilling and stimulating dish that's flavors gave hint to the ancient histories drawn upon by the chef. Among the Gnomes, a sweet tooth is an understatement. I remember once came upon a gnomish bakery on the southern coast that sold a beet-loaf. This baker had found a way to concentrate the sugars within his beets until they were, well the only parallel was the concept of a solid, slightly fibery honey. He pulped the beets and after allowing them to dry combined with a standard Breland Loaf dough. This beet-loaf was extrordinary and served with a glass of spiced coffee favored in the area has to be among my favorite of afternoon delights.... |
| James Silverleaf08-08-05, 06:46 PM | Dragons fire: this dish is not for those with a weak belly. it is served in the Mror holds, where even most of the dwarves fear the spicy flavour. it is a stew consisting of shank of a Dire Boar, the crushed leaf of a belladona. the juices from the Ixchlar plant( a meat eating plant from Q-barra, growing as high as 4 feets.) and the crushed leafs of the Talenta flower Cha'Leckro, in common tounge: devils kiss. TYhe devils kiss is well know for its really hot and spicy flavour. the stew is cooked on a large iron stove, or over open fire for about an hour, while the flavour of the devils kiss spread out in the meat. often served with a large mug of beer or two. |
| KP9108-08-05, 07:53 PM | Some meals are given at the back of the CoT novel: Tal-Eberron's version of tea Ghost Fish-An invisible fish from Aundaire similar to trout Others: My favorite: Trihorn Steak Trihorn Milk There are Karnath's cheese and wines. Perhaps a large feast might have dragonhawk Faestieths and Cockatrices are something I doubt would be eaten (faestieths being the halfling equivilent of a horse which as far as I know are not widely eaten, and cockatrices being poisonous). Although, the next inn the PCs reach are going to have magebred chickens. |
| taski08-08-05, 08:40 PM | Spider stew: A common Brelish dish, usually consisting of fist-sized boiled Blackcap spiders in a thick broth. While these spiders' exoskeletons are normally dark brown and tuff, after boiling, they turn deep red and soft to the point of being edible. The stew is not complete without a few other ingredients, often leafy greens, other vegitables (such as carrots or corn), spices, and strips of pickled ginger. The dish is usually served piping hot, with one whole spider belly-up in the bowl. Tarandro Triolli: A dish invented in the Zilargo town, Tarandro Triolli consists of triangular raviolli pastas stuffed with three varieties of cheese and three kinds of meat. These are covered in a spicy pesto sauce that has three kinds of mushroom. It's a favorite among Zil mathematicians. |
