08-13-04, 06:10 PM Does anyone know a good mapping tool from small villages to huge eberron-like citys?
City adventures are becoming more important now, and I can draw as a good as an ogre might be able to run at lightspeed. :angel:

You can find it at: http://autorealm.sourceforge.net/

It's a freeware program as well, so the cost is nice (I like paying $0 for good software).

It's a powerful program, but the learning curve is a tad hard for some users. It even has tools to make top down views of houses. Try it out, I think you'll like it.

08-19-04, 08:53 PM Another good option (although it's not free) is City Designer Pro by ProFantasy. It take a little getting used to, but it's a great program and their mail list is full of friendly, helpful people who are willing to answer questions. I think they have a demo version, so give it a try.

08-19-04, 09:12 PM Personally, I like building my maps on Paintshop Pro from Jasc.
No prebuilt tools especially for map making, but its a darned good graphics program, and I already have the hang of making it do what I want it to do.

08-20-04, 01:50 AM I have found dungeoncrafter to be a great tool.
1. It's free
2. It's easy to use
3. There are alot of available tile sets
4. With a little photoshop knowledge you can easily create your own custom tiles

08-20-04, 07:29 AM Another option is the program Dundjinni (http://www.dundjinni.com). It can create beautifull maps and has a relatively easy learning curve. It does cost a lot though, $80 for the platinum edition, the basic edition though combined with the already substantial library of user created content can be had for a reasonable price.
But the demo is a very good starting point if you just want some small villages and although you can't print or save directly from the program nothing prevents you from making screenshots
