An interesting idea for you, is a warforged paladin or cleric refered to as a soulforged? Or perhaps could a PrC be made to fullfill the such idea of Soulforged, since being a living creature and having a soul a warforged is capable of achieving spiritual rewards, and thus can develop thier soul.

Thus a warofrged who takes such a PrC or thus becomes santificed could possibly be refered to as a Soulforged?

Also has any warforged (multiple warforged in games) refered to each other as brothers of the forge since they came formt eh same creation forge? I think it may be a good way to personaify them as more living beings, to regard that they do indeed have siblings in battle and in life.

I just refuse to see Warforged as these cold dark things people tend to be making them out to be, although some people have different tastes I know and a few warforged might not see themselves as having purpose, but beacuse of the treaty many of them I think make thier own way in the world. Living creatures have ambitions. They have needs, even if it isn't food or sleep.

It's hard to find a purpose in a world that sees you as weapon thats out lived it's original use.
I don't think the warforged are cold and emotionless, I think that they don't understand what they feel or what they should do.
How would you feel knowing that you were made only to fight and kill without mercy and now that way of life is forbiddon to you, that all you've been taught is now wrong in the eyes of society?
Warforged must be burdened with weight of the dead and there origins.
wouldn't you feel depressed knowing you *were* nothing but a tool, and that your only real use is the destruction of life?
Kinda a bleak reality, don't you agree?

I'd still have a choice to live and I'd take it. Damn what others may say it's the choice of the person to live despite all that.

Sorry for that bit of Drama, but yes even we as human being aren't told our prupose and blah blah blah we don't know what we really want so I see things as with the warforged beign equal, just that they previously had a purpose doesn't mean it was thier ture purpose.

When white settlers went to africa and took black slaves and told them what thier purpose was it didn't stop a revolt or those people living.

Dear lord you made me use the reference I was shying away from. I feel like so much cliche strawberry rubarb pie now. I hope your happy.

I'm conivinced that at least some are under that impression yet. But they are no emo constructs. They do not go around saying, "I"m sad I was crafted for war". Sientience means decisions and decisions mean mistakes and it all seems to be like they can live thier own life despite any guilt. People and Warforged will move on. Some will not, some never will, but most will. And they will live.

Of course they will, they'll adapt to their new lives just like many formerly subjugated peoples have done in the real world. But the whole point is that it'll be hard. There are a lot of messy problems (emotional, cultural, spiritual) that didn't instantly clean themselves up when the Treaty was signed: it's not as simple as deciding to move on. A guy has a lot to deal with once he's no longer a soldier -- and yet his right arm is still an axe. I mean, would you hire a guy to be your grocery clerk if he had an axe for a hand? (Well, maybe in the butcher section...)

But ultimately, those kinds of problems are good for us. Even if they're tough for the warforged, they're interesting for the players of D&D: they present great roleplaying opportunities and good stories.

Thank you doog for driving my point home!
You see it was easy for a warforged to justify his actions in the war because he was saw as a tool and his emotions wern't part of the equation, but now he has to act more on emotions than orders, and I imagine it's hard for some warforged to accept.

What does a warforged do when the party sleeps and the only company it has is its memories from the past? To be haunted by the faces of so many? "Why am I givin freedom? It was paid for by the blood of others, not my own. Why?"

I understand and agree with you Neo, and I have thought about myself. Uusually since those without downtime like artificers and casters, I figured forge would stay active all through the night and try not to think, keep themself busy ya know?

Also could someon please comment on my original question? Do warforge see themselves as forge brothers, or sister. A sort of relation if they were assigned together or any feelings of sentimentality.

That is an interesting idea Saurenda. When you ask if perhaps a PrC be made to fullfill the idea of Soulforged it made me think about the Warforged Juggernaut PrC, only instead of Identifying more with the Construct aspect of their being, Identifying more with the Living aspect of thier being.
I'm imageing that a SoulForged PrC could provide special abilities like being able to take full advantage of healing spells, and then later on, at 5th level maybe, actual natural healing. I'm not sure what else, but I think you get the point.
But that would mean that a Warforged could then Not take the Juggernaut PrC, it'd be one or the other.
I'll defitnetly have to think about that some more.

As for your other question, Do Warforged see themselves as forge brothers/sisters? It really depends on how a particular warforged comes to look at it. In general, and from what I've read on the Ask Kieth Thread, it seems that Warforged have not yet developed a common sense of self, a common identity. Each has his own take on things. So I'd say, No, in general Warforged do not see themselves as Forge Sibilings, but not because they can't or won't but because the very Concept/Idea of honoring such a relationship hasn't come up yet or only to a few so it's very new. Only those Warforged who come to that Concept on thier own or are exposed to it and adopt it could/would possibly come to think of other Warforged who came form the same Creation Forge as Siblings. Boy talk about your extended families.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

Give me a day or two to think on it, and then I'll post a PrC on the classes board here. I've always thought there should be a balance to the Juggernaught prestige class. I'll work on the Soulforged prestige class soon.

Saurenda - I can see some warforged claiming kinship to those that came from the same forge, or perhaps served in the same unit/army/nation. I imagine that those who have the mark of a nation/regiment/army might think of themselves as brothers and sisters in arms. I think by and large, though, it would be a more personal thing. But in the absence of any real family I can see this is being the most logical response.

My 2cp.

Soul Forged PrC (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=297142)

This was my remdition of it. I'd love to see yours as well. I also outlined one for MageForged, but that is still in the works.

Hope this one isn't overpowered like the summoner idea ^^. I think I did an okay job balancing it, but I'll let you guys decide.

Do warforged see themselves as Forge Brothers and Sisters? I think that it largely depends on the individual warforged. As a general rule however, I would say yes. Most warforged would share a certain kinship. Most minorities in any culture share a feeling of "brotherhood" with eachother. Especially ones that have shared a common plight.
Warforged do have souls and sentience, so they can be as varied as humans. Some may be ashamed to be a warforged. Those beings would extend their self-loathing onto others such as themselves. Some warforged may have a chip on their shoulder, and they would deem every other race as people who "owe him". This type of character would place a warforged stranger's life over that of an elven comrade's.
Speaking from experience, I will say that the bond of military service is strong. The time that I spent in the Army brought me as close to some of the people I served with as my actual brothers. It is a bond as strong as family.
That said, play your character how you want to play him!;)
