| mearrin6911-17-06, 10:40 AM | I would use the PC's new patron to send them on quests for more schema - with the Lord of Blade's minions (and maybe others) close behind (or ahead of) the party. Send them to someplace in the Mournland (where Cannith's main biz was), Darguun, then maybe pack them off to X'endrik for the final piece. Don't remember how many pieces the schema was supposed to have but make each one a quest, larger than the last. For some fun you might have their competitors get to one of them first and they have to 'reacquire' it. Might be a good opportunity for a 6th or 7th level showdown with LoB. Finally, maybe have some twist at the end - like their patron is really working for some crazy Cannith scion who needs the schema to create an unholy eldritch machine that will pay back country x for the Day of Mourning. The PCs have just delivered the pieces to make it possible and now they have to stop it or be cursed by history. Don't have the published adventures myself either, but that's something like how I'd plan it out if I were doing it. HTH! M |

You'll be better off writing your own continuation of the story. |

If you REALLY want to know what happens in Shadows... *spoilers duh* Basically the adventurers have to race the Order of the Emerald Claw through the Mournland to the next schema. The module itself tends to get criticised both because it's a bit railroady, yet at the same time it's remarkably easy for the PCs to veer from the script and pretty much require the DM to re-write about a third of the adventure to get it back on track. Plus my personal disagreement is it completely removes the Lord of Blades and his followers from the picture despite setting them up as the big bads of the Forgotten Forge. Felt like a bit of a waste when they could have just used the Emerald Claw in FF and developed the villains in the process. But there's already been enough debate about those adventures. I'll go with ArcTan here and recommend you just make up your own adventure, chances are it'll be more fun than Shadows of the Last War anyway. For the most part you've got a fairly easy situation to work with, just have Elaydren keep sending the PCs after the next schema on the list, and build what are basically stand-alone adventures. Then while you're running these adventures start planning out what you actually want the completed schema to do and run with it. If you're really interested in the official explanation of the schema... *SPOILERS FOR GRASP OF THE EMERALD CLAW* From memory, In Grasp of the Emerald Claw the schema basically turns out to be a warforged-like conciousness created by the giants of Xen'drik that went renegade and is obsessed with spreading chaos and destruction. it takes control of an ancient warforged in the jungles of Xen'Drik and starts wreaking havoc until the PCs can stop it. Basically a generic, if fun, final boss monster. |
