Form Fitting Body Armor in Eberron (And other Stuff) [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-17-07, 10:59 AM I was thinking could it be cool to have form fitting body armor in Eberron? For some reason over the last few days my mind has been making a comparison of Eberron, Shadowrun.

I've played both and at their core themes they are pretty similar. Which is what sparked my idea on my previous post with the "Eberron Book of Fashion" "Styles of Khorvaire and Beyond". The concept reminded me of the depth of the Shadowrun books that could be purchased, specifically "The Riggers Blackbook" from 2nd Edition. I mean there was practically a book for every item you could conceive in buying, and often times pictures to boot. Being that I am a very visual person, it enhanced my gaming experience 100 fold. I mean it was absolutely a blast building a character and spending that million nuyen.

Anyway with all that said I was thinking about maybe transitioning some elements from Shadowrun over into my Eberron game. Form Fitting Body Armor for example.

I thought, "Maybe it could be a combined effort of the following Dragonmarked Houses; Cannith and Phiarlan and/or Thurranni (I think I spelled that right). There are currently only have a few prototype suits which are under heavy guard.

I also thought about a Rigger type book and class for some of the Orien Heirs, maybe vehicles that The House itself had made in unison with Cannith (were talking some of the top of the line top secret stuff; maybe assault vehicles and such) and the bad boys of the houses who operate them. This could also be a great way to add some nasty depth to Excoriates. Maybe they are banding together and starting to produce some serious new developments that rival the current ingenuity of their respective houses which have perhaps grown decadent.

What do you guys think?

05-17-07, 01:27 PM I think where the Eberron souce material really needs some help from Shadowrun is with regards to the Dragonmarked Houses/Megacorporations. I would like to see a LOT more inter-house politics, but as it stands you really have to go searching for any conflict between the houses. Conflict drives stories and plot, whereas everyone getting along nicely makes for a boring situation.

I mean, compare "Orien is slightly grumpy because Tharashk is dealing in mercenaries now" to Shadowrun Megacorps spending huge resources on Shadowrunners to attack each other.
