Sharn CoT, has a little bit of information on hiring Inquisitives, and the DM Sourcebook has some info in the Medani and Tharashksections on the inquisitive guilds.

There is a series of novels starting this year featuring Inquisitives.

Hey, with some of the stuff in the PGtE and other Eberron books pretty much spilling the major plot hooks of the setting, you never can tell who will be reading what.

I know this is a side issue, but I think that anyone concerned with "spilling major plot hooks" are missing the point. IMO, Major plot points described in the books are "campaign flavor" and there is no problem with players knowing about them (characters are another issue).

If players aren't supposed to know something a campaign will present it as a "mystery." It can be major like the origin of the Mournland (which I always assumed was intended as an "unsolvable mystery") or just that there is a significant prisoner in Dreadhold (which many feel is the same person, but it could be someone else from the description).

Still that's off-topic. On topic, Zed is a good example of a freelance inquisitive in the "Heirs of Ash" series. He's more inquisitive like in the first book, though.

If that's the case then I could blow the whole ending of Keith's latest book & no one should mind, but we both know that'd be a bad thing to do.

Therefore my response to you is that it depends on who is at your gaming table. Some people can handle spoilers and some people hate them.

Few things are more enjoyable, IMO, than legit surprises during a game session. Most of the people I game with enjoy figuring out the more hidden plot hooks of the setting as they go along.

Makes those Knowledge checks a bit more meaningful.

And thanks for the "Chimes" shout out DBlizzard and Kid SixXx! The sequel to it (called "Quoth the Raven") is coming out so soon! Probably too late to be useful for your current campaign, but who knows maybe you'll kick off a new Sharn Inquisitive style camp somewhere down the line, especially after these new novels come out, I'm sure they'll get the creative juices flowing for all sorts of awesome mystery-adventure madness!
