Ok, here's the sitch: I'm running an Eberron campaign, and last Sunday we started it on a "Ocean's Eleven" note by having the group meet for the first time and with their new employer. The job: trying to grab a journal from an Agent of the Emerald Claw. In the Journal: the coded information to find an old, now lost Temple of the Blood of Vol, where the cultists experimented with Plague weaponry during the Last War.

I was thinking of roleplaying an attempt at getting the book in Sharn, but my co-DM really wants to get started on "heading for the dungeon". So I decided to revise my original idea and roleplay an attempt at stealing the journal while on the Lightning Rail to Karrnath.

However, looking through all the maps I have at my disposal, I can see that there's no direct Lightning Rail line connecting Sharn/Breland and Karrnath. And I really want to use the Lightning Rail, saving the Airships for later.

Now, the quickest path I can think of is Lightning Rail to Flamekeep, then via ship to Karrlakton. Any other options?

Lightening rail to Vathirond, then coach of some sort across the mournlands on the Orien Trailand back onto the lightening rail at Metrol and North to Vedykar, Atur to Korth.

Either that, or lightning rail to Flamekeep and sail across to Korth. Give 'em a nice look at Thronehold for flavor.

It stands to reason that even if Thrane and Karrnath have too many issues with one another to fix their bridge, the neutral-minded dragonmarked houses will pick up the slack and provide to the masses. If House Orien lost the ability to move people from one side of Khorvaire to the other via their lightning rail, then you can be sure that House Lyrandar is gleefully providing that via both water- and air- ships.

Good call on Thronehold, Gurv. Also, Romulus, this could give you an opportunity to steal the journal or have other drama go down on the boat.
