| Brianish09-29-04, 11:37 PM | Any word on when we'll see some info with regards to the north continent of Eberron? I'm feeling some nasty survival-centric snow adventures. O:-) |
| Somebloke09-30-04, 03:09 AM | Better yet...anyone else got some cool ideas? |
| d_nychus09-30-04, 03:35 AM | Oddly enough, the new D&D supplement, Frostburn, describes an area known as 'the frostfell' in great detail. Coincidence? I do recommend Frostburn if you do any sort of artic campaign, regardless of setting. It's a good supplement that works well in Eberron, Forgotten Realms, or whatever world you use. |
| Zedium09-30-04, 04:16 AM | Frostfell is just a name that they are going to use for any artic place, simular to how the Underdark is anywhere deep under the ground. I think frostburn has some nice additions, although some stuff I wouldn't use in eberron, for instance the new player race variants. |
| Brianish09-30-04, 10:35 AM | Yeah, I went to examine all the Frostburn info I could find after I posted this. I noticed stuff like that. Defenitely a no on the new PC races. Still, some of the monsters are fairly interesting, and what I'm mostly interested in is environmental factors. Frost Giants and Ice Trolls and Yetis and etc work fine for Frostfell I daresay. |
| Iron_Weasel09-30-04, 11:51 AM | I would think that with the release of the perfectly serviceable Frostburn, specific details about Frostfell will be left to individuals DMs to sort out for themselves, at least for now. Trollsicles, anyone? :) Cheers! |
| Mytholder09-30-04, 01:27 PM | I've actually got an Eberron group exploring the Frostfell at the moment (they're on a flying ship attached to a university). I'm nicking stuff out of the Frostburn book wholesale, as well as big sections from HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. The uberplot is that a Quori made it to Eberron millenia ago. There's a sect of Kalashtar-spirits keeping watch on it (instead of merging with human hosts, they've built bodies for themselves out of ice). The Quori psychically dominated the ice yeti, and drove most of the dwarves out of the Frostfell before they managed to lock it in a big glacier. Now, the glacier is beginning to crack and some of the being's psychic influence is leaking out. The ice-Kalashtar are going to guide the PCs (especially the normal-Kalashtar sorceress) to reseal the icy prison before an armada from Sarlona shows up. |
| greatfrito09-30-04, 08:10 PM | *thumbs up* Very cool idea. Anyone seen the movie "The Thing"? yeah, that's what should be in Frostfell. Anyways, really, I love the new Wizards sourcebook, and would like to write an adventure using it (I'm gonna use a lot for my homebrew campaign anyways) set in Eberron. Seems very interesting, especially if they find ancient frozen ruins... I'd imagine it's less explored even than Xen'Drik, which makes it cool. |
