| The White Sorcerer02-03-07, 01:55 PM | Man, that's a supacool picture. |
| Alex_02-03-07, 02:30 PM | God this picture is stupid. (http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9882/stupidhz6.jpg) But it's got a kind of retro charm to it. Now the female House Ghallanda Halfling from the Dragonmarked book is stupid looking. |
| SquirrelMortis02-03-07, 03:34 PM | But it's got a kind of retro charm to it. Now the female House Ghallanda Halfling from the Dragonmarked book is stupid looking. We mustn't forget the tentacle spider from SoX, or anything else by Wayne England for that matter... |
| Edymnion02-03-07, 07:09 PM | This is almost totally off topic. What book did cancerousmango's avatar picture come out of? I don't recall seeing it, and it looks cool. |
| Bluebrush02-03-07, 09:37 PM | I think it might be the Becoming God picture from Faiths of Eberron. |
| Ricohard_Draconis02-03-07, 10:39 PM | meh now i reread it and realise i misread edy's post darn it oh well I'll leave it as is. I think the pic is from a dragon magazine actually... yepp, Page 82 of Issue 352 part of the art for the Dragonmarks: Warforged: Fierce and Furious Article. On another note do the images in the Dragonmarked art gallery not show up for anyone else or is it just me? |
| Cabral02-03-07, 11:17 PM | It is. It's one of the warforged in the background picking up a possible piece of the Becomming God on page 118. Actually, I don't particularly mind Wayne England. My particular artist pet peeve is Tom Baxa. I wish people would stop hiring him or he would change his "style". It's been marring D&D and Shaowrun books for too long. |
| Raziel_Brokodar02-04-07, 12:40 AM | yep, cropped it and got it added to the avatar gallery myself :P 75% maybe of the Eberron avatars were done up by me. (resized and got them added to the gallery) Oddly they added Strad to the Eberron section but that's cool On topic, man that pic is wonky :D |

| The White Sorcerer02-04-07, 04:10 AM | Nevermind, must learn to read before posting... |
| Ozymandias V.02-04-07, 04:39 AM | What is the OP's picture from? |
| The White Sorcerer02-04-07, 04:48 AM | What is the OP's picture from? Dragon Magazine #352. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-04-07, 08:48 AM | God this picture is stupid. (http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9882/stupidhz6.jpg) Ahem... (http://picardlaughedoutloud.ytmnd.com/) |
| Edymnion02-04-07, 04:03 PM | It is. It's one of the warforged in the background picking up a possible piece of the Becomming God on page 118.Ah, so it is, thank you. The small resolution made it look more like he was crouching, about to do something cool. |
| Shandronas02-05-07, 02:07 PM | Actually, I don't particularly mind Wayne England. My particular artist pet peeve is Tom Baxa. I wish people would stop hiring him or he would change his "style". It's been marring D&D and Shaowrun books for too long. Tom Baxa has been a horrible artist since I first saw his work in some of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles RPG books back in the 80's. I have tried for years to conceive some sort of viable excuse someone might make for actually paying the man to produce such horrendous visual dribble, and after nearly two decades, I cannot say that I have come up with a single one. His "art" is akin to that of a fourteen year old in a special needs class. I know that sounds cruel, and I apologize to special needs children everywhere for comparing them to Baxa. |
| okaynowa02-05-07, 03:25 PM | I was going to say, "But I loved Baxa's artwork for Dark Sun," but then I remembered that the Dark Sun artwork was mostly by Brom. Baxa's name always reminds me of the Athasian braxat, which is where I get confused. Personally, I miss the black-and-white artwork Stephen Fabian did for the old Manual of the Planes. There was some good, moody stuff there. |

Here, here and there, there! I agree with you 99%. The one remaining percent? This Picture. (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FC2_Gallery/101475.jpg) I actually kind of like it. But I agree, the doesn't excuse the countless crimes he has perpetrated against D&D over the years. We need more of this (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FC2_Gallery/101507.jpg) Daarken (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FC2_Gallery/101472.jpg) chap, (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FC2_Gallery/101486.jpg) methinks. (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FC2_Gallery/101495.jpg) The stuff he does, is the stuff Baxa dreams about. And I'm talking about the good kind of dreams. |
| Macrovore02-05-07, 03:41 PM | i say we get more william o'connor. he's the best WOTC artist imosho. is there an online source for his pictures? |
| Shandronas02-05-07, 03:46 PM | If you ever get the chance, try and find a copy of the TMNT supplement "Truckin' Turtles". The art in that book would make jesus himself break down into tears and apologize for attoning for the sins of man. That being said, WotC does have a pretty solid crew of artists working on their books. Wayne Reynolds goes without saying, but William O'Connor, Sam Wise and even the newer guys in the Complete Scoundrel book (which I was highly impressed with) more than compensate for Baxa's crimes against humanity. And compared to the art in the 2.0 books, the product is just getting better and better. A complete reversal to the brilliant marketing strategy that Palladium had. Their art was mediocre at best (except Kevin Long and Vince Martin), and just got worse with every book. You know you're in for a treat when the publisher (Simbedia) elects to throw his art in, despite the fact that whenever he picks up a pen to draw the sky blackens and the sounds of children crying fills the air. And to the OP, yes, it is quite a silly picture, but it could be much much worse. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-05-07, 04:02 PM | i say we get more william o'connor. he's the best WOTC artist imosho. is there an online source for his pictures? Yeah, he's not bad at all, except that he seems to have an unhealthy (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/fc1_gallery/98493.jpg) obsession (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/fc1_gallery/98436.jpg) with the barely hidden boob. (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/cpsi_gallery/96387.jpg) Little weird. |
| Macrovore02-05-07, 04:15 PM | does o'connor have a website or something, though? |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-05-07, 04:20 PM | does o'connor have a website or something, though? No clue. |
| Vharuck02-05-07, 05:12 PM | God this picture is stupid. (http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9882/stupidhz6.jpg) I would play a warforged and use that as my character pic solely to say that, whenever my hit points reached negatives, my head would pop up and I would become inert. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-05-07, 05:17 PM | :heehee THAT'S where I've seen that before. "Whack 'em Smack 'em Warforged!" |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-05-07, 06:45 PM | And remember, kids... (http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/8770/90026bb0.jpg) |

| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-05-07, 07:05 PM | Who doesn't like underboobs? Well, it's common knowledge that everyone loves the underboob. Even this guy! (http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~mkittle/jb%2019.jpg) I'm just saying it's a bit of an odd trend. |
| Cabral02-05-07, 07:21 PM | does o'connor have a website or something, though? Maybe (http://www.wocillo.com/). |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-05-07, 07:30 PM | Maybe (http://www.wocillo.com/). Wow. I've got to say: This guy is great! I knew that he was O.K. but these pictures are awesome. It's almost like he says, "Hmmm... This picture didn't turn out so well. WotC might be able to use it. I'll throw them a bone!" Bravo Mr. O' Connor. Edit: Dang, guy likes his dragons. |
| eehamburg02-06-07, 12:39 PM | Well, it's common knowledge that everyone loves the underboob. Even this guy! (http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~mkittle/jb%2019.jpg) I'm just saying it's a bit of an odd trend. ok ... I don't get it ... who is that guy and what was I missing within the pic? |
| goblin_pride02-06-07, 12:49 PM | Brom and Baxa's artwork defined Dark Sun and gave it a feel apart from the other settings availible at the time and I rather enjoyed the difference in the works. Sure Baxa's work wasn't exactly realistic, the proportions were a bit off in most of it, but it gave the setting a feel that couldn't be matched. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-06-07, 03:37 PM | ok ... I don't get it ... who is that guy and what was I missing within the pic? That guy? I have no idea. I googled "random guy" and found that. Chalk it up to me being far too random for my own good. But, just between you and me, he doesn't look like the sort that would enjoy the underboob. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-06-07, 03:39 PM | Brom and Baxa's artwork defined Dark Sun and gave it a feel apart from the other settings availible at the time and I rather enjoyed the difference in the works. Sure Baxa's work wasn't good. At all. But it gave the setting a feel that could be matched by a retarded chimp. You had a typo... |
| Vharuck02-06-07, 04:13 PM | Who doesn't like underboobs? Do you like that side boob? Well you shouldn't, because that's my side boob. G'night. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph02-07-07, 06:48 PM | Do you like that side boob? Well you shouldn't, because that's my side boob. G'night. Family Guy, FTW. |

| Euangelion02-09-07, 10:34 AM | I would play a warforged and use that as my character pic solely to say that, whenever my hit points reached negatives, my head would pop up and I would become inert. Now I have a pic to go with post #20 in this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=738383). |
