Galifar Coat of Arms [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-08-06, 11:18 AM I've run though the Five Nations and the ECS book, looking for any indication of the heraldry of the original kingdom of Galifar. Has anyone come across any information on the subject? Or even just have ideas and suggestions?

On a similar note, I seem to recall seeing an outline of the line of succession from Galifar the first onward, but can't seem to find that, either. Was that just my imagination?

07-09-06, 12:40 AM Not at all official, but I would suggest a five-pointed gold star on a field of blue. The five points of the star represent the Five Nations of Galifar, the gold represents the wealth of the nation, and the blue represents the concept of Galifar ruling the continent from sea to sea.

It's rather simple, but it was what popped into my head. I'm sure I could come up with something more comlex and fitting if I were more awake.

07-09-06, 03:35 PM No no, simple heraldry is better and yours would be just fine. The full version might have a banner over it with heradric animals propping the shield up on eithe side, but yours makes good solid sense.

That is one of the very very few things that bug the hell out of me about Eberron art. The heraldric symbols are WAY too fancy!

My first instinct is a pair of dragons, though what color(s) would be appropriate?

Also, if the history of couatls on Eberron were known at the time of Galifar the First, I can certainly see them being chosen instead...

07-13-06, 02:10 PM I think the animals could signify the phases of (human) civilization on Khorvaire.

The first (right?) could be an Ice pilot (http://wizards.com/dnd/images/5n_gallery/90018.jpg) who guided Lhazaar and the first settlers to the continent.

And the left could be a Karnnathi wolf, symbolizing Karrn's "civilizing" of the hobgoblin society remnants and Galifar's birthplace. (This was probably under much dispute, because of Karrn's questionable methods.)

Then the top would be something unique to Galifar. This could really be anything. Maybe a dragonhawk (http://wizards.com/dnd/images/5n_gallery/89989.jpg), to reflect his creation of the Arcane Congress. Or maybe a magebred eagle (http://wizards.com/dnd/images/5n_gallery/89987.jpg) to show the kingdom's magic perfecting on nature.
