Quick question for you all...

Would the Inspired let people from Khorvaire know that they are the Inspired, or would the just say they are from Riedra?

My campaign has the party of adventurer's in Q'Barra presently and they have come into contact with an Inspired. So, what would the party learn from the Inspired? Would they think that the Inspired is something special, or just a noble person from Riedra? I think it would be pretty easy for a adventurer to tell that the Inspired is quite a bit different from a common Riedran soldier that might also be in Q"Barra.

Any thoughts that anyone could give are much appreciated.

It depends on what you mean about letting people know that they are Inspired.

Remember that not even the citizens of Riedra know the truth about the quori. They just have a more generalized religious notion of "divine spirits" inhabiting their Inspired overlords.

To a typical person from Khorvaire, the Inspired and the kalashtar are pretty much similar to each other. Both are perceived as an exotic human sub-species. The whole "divine spirit" thing is probably seen as hokey in the same way most people probably see the Valenar elves' insistence that they have the spirits of their heroic ancestors in them. A cynical person from Khorvaire would probably believe that the Inspired are just a sub-race resulting from selective breeding within the noble classes of Sarlona (which is at least partly true in the matter of where the Empty Vessels come from).

It's never in question that an Inspired is someone special, unless they actively disguise themselves. Even without their striking looks, any Riedrans around them will be almost fawningly worshipful. But again, this can be chalked up to social customs.

Inpsired sometimes masquerade as kalashtar when it suits them. Otherwise they are open about being the nobility of Riedra, but are vague about what exactly that means. Riedrans don't mingle much with outsiders so even in places where they are in a mixed community, they are unlikely to gossip about the Inspired. So most people will just see them as the aristocrats of Riedra without recognizing their alien nature.
