| Glasken03-01-06, 02:35 PM | I play in an interesting game weekly. We are a large party that is very healer heavy and most arcane power to speak of is offensive. I was probing the idea of the leadership feat and would like to ask some oppinions on a good compliment to a Warmage. I have more than enough offensive power, but my defense and that of the party in general is usually an afterthought. Any suggestions on a class/class that would be good for support? Thanks for your time, -Glasken |

Add in "Inspirational Boost" from Complete adventurer and that's +4. Not to mention Archivists can cast any divine spell, for serious buffing, and Bards can get buffs too (Cat's Grace et al). Alternatively, Anything/Adjuration. An Aduration-focused mage could pump out some serious buffs/protective spells. |

He learns minor auras, which allow him to grant his charisma bonus to certain rolls, like reflex saves or int checks, to all his allies within 60 feet. The major auras grant smaller bonuses (+1 at 2nd level to +4 at 20th) to things like Damage Reduction/-, AC, and damage rolls. Both the Warmage and Marshal rely heavily on Charisma, so you won't have too much problem with MAD (Multi-Ability Dependence). Their skill lists compliment each other quite nicely, too. The Marshal gives you marshal weapon proficiency (who'd have thought?), and a better hit-dice. Though the Marshal offers armor proficiency up to Heavy armor, there's still the problem of arcane spell failure. However, by 8th level, the Warmage side gets armored mage, which lets you use medium armor without worrying about ASF. The combo is easy to justify in terms of RP -- you could have gone to Rekkenmark Academy or some other military academy, or you could even be a Denieth Heir. The Mark of Sentinel is pretty good for the role, plus you give your DM all sorts of hooks in terms of House business. A few other options I can think of: Fighter/Warmage, Sorceror/Marshal, Favored Soul/Warmage, and Archavist/Abjurer. |
| Kemmotar_veon03-07-06, 12:49 PM | if you want to give support how about a Healer/Paladin... )healer from the minis handbook)... or maybe a Healer/monk that way you have all the healing power you may need and if you had to fight... well the you can fight... other option is Bard/Abjurer... or Bard/transmuter those are the topo buffers that I can think... now if you want to try something really really really dangerous and nice... use a Warlock/Soulknife (Complete Arcane/Psionics handbook) and you will be the top non weapon carrier in the party... and you can always learn the Baleful blow invocation with the Warlock so he can chanel the eldritch blast trought the mind blade... that's 2d6 and growing of damage at Lvl 1 |
