The easiest thing would be just to have them be from some hidden mountain pass. But that would be too unreasonable considering the length of the war and the Goliath competitive spirit. So instead I decided that Goliaths are decendants from giants before they rose to civilization. Around 90,000 years before the rise of Galifar a large tribe of hill giants entered a faerie mound and found themselves in Thelanis. They made there way to the mountains they saw and aclimated themselves to this new world and the peoples in it. They found no reason to civilize themselves and a distinct culture arose. Now Thelanis is coterminous and Goliaths have found their way back through the fairie mounds and have begun to interact with a world very differant then the one their ancestors left. Sorry maybe this should be moved to the race board. |

I was trying to come up with a way to introduce them without rewriting anything. A good reason for their relative lack of civilization is that only 1/7th the amount of time has happened. So while over 90,000 years have passed on Eberron, the Goliaths have had only like 13,000 years pass. Plus none of the other peoples on Thelanis provide them with competition for resources so they havn't had to grow as a people. |

In my version they are nothing new and while a little odd, nothing out of the ordinary. By your method the entire civilization is coming to Eberron at one time, and there will be reprecusions of this. Think about it like this: Growing up you here stories of 8ft tall men and womean, and maybe have even seen one. And when you meet one it maybe suprising, but not all that suprising as you've heard of them. But if you've never heard of such a thing, and never seen anything like that, you be freaked out if you ever see one, much less when a whole bunch come out of no where. And freaked out people, often try to stop(or kill, or maim, etc.) what freaks them out. It will basicly turn any golith in your campaign into a goblin/orc in any other world, somthing to be attacked. But its your world do what you want. |
