Hellcow ( ) explained in greater detail the philosophy of the faith for the every day worshipper and I found myself wondering if anyone had ever attempted playing a good cleric of the Blood of Vol. I had a concept of a young Thrane who lived near the border at the end of the war and saw so much pointless death and callous behavior towards loss of life from the Thrane military ("Sorry, kid. Protecting your village from that Valenar raid wasn't possible at the time. But don't worry! Aunt Velma and the rest of your family may be resting in pieces, but their souls are with the Flame now! ... maybe.") that when he was rescued by a Karrnathi patrol, he converted. The trouble I have is that the mechanics for Clerics of the BoV are strongly evil-oriented. The religion itself is Lawful Evil and despite Hellcow's explanations, the domain choices and the evil hierachy a cleric must answer to seem to make it difficult to play such a character. Has anyone ever tried to make that concept work? And if so, how did they proceed? Also, if anyone in the know reads this, is the topic discussed in the upcoming Faiths of Eberron (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/eberron/953817200) ? |
