The tooth, At-Ta-Ir, is in this adventure. It takes up a tooth slot permanently in one's mouth. What magical slot does that fit though? The head slot?

I'd say it takes up a tooth; that is to say, it doesn't take up any specific slot. Of course, I think you only have 32 teeth...

Indeed, the tooth is an artifact so i doubt it would require a slot.

though given the hefty downside of the tooth my party sold it along with the lens

Well I like to go by the Maximum Magic Items worn section on page 214 of the DMG. I like the balance it takes and I think I'm going to end up just going with the head slot.

But sure, go ahead and assume I'm an idiot and I've no idea where to put a tooth.

You are allowed to make "unslotted" items that can be worn anywhere and don't take up a slot, they just cost more in GP and XP. I would assume the tooth is unslotted. But if you do want to make it take up a slot, then head seems alright.

I wasn't trying to offend you or anything. And I wasn't breaking the rules, either. As has already been said in this thread, there are some items that don't take up a slot. They just cost more than normal.

And, I'm sorry if I offended you. I seriously didn't mean it to sound rude. I just have a sense of humor I tend to put in my posts that some people attribute with putting my foot in my mouth :)

Yeah, unless you break down the formula yourself (it's in the DMG someplace), assume the 'unslotted' nature of the item is accounted for in GP and XP values.
