It was great to meet some fellow Eberron fans at Dragon Con. I'd love to see WotC make an effort to show off Eberron at DC next year, it's not strictly a gaming convention per say but it has a high general fan visibility and it's the biggest con in the Southeast US.

Maybe we can get an effort next year to run some Eberron tournaments next year to show the setting off.

Anyway, our pics from the con are posted (http://www.flagonwiththedragon.com/gallery/DC2005). Hope to see some of you there next year.

With any luck, Uncle Sam will keep me in Virginia so I can attend next year's Dragon*Con, however it looks like Gen Con (provided I get plenty of leave time) for me as there is the strong likelihood that I will be shipped off to TACOM (Tactical Armor Command) after my Logistics internship is completed.

Looks like a good time was had by all. Lots of... very interesting costumes at Dragon Con this year.

The guys in the "Not sure who these guys were but they were cool" pic are dressed as Necromongers from The Chronicles of Riddick: nice costumes indeed.

Good to see that so many people put lots of effort into their costumes.

My inner geek screams for a Yoyodyne t-shirt. :P

hmmm... maybe I'd want to go to something like that to have access to D&D/Eberron products.. and to meet people like Keith and other creators. (seriously creepy pics) HAHA :D

Cool, hope you can make it. Definitly enjoyable. By TACom I'm guessing you're an armor officer? I was in the Army for 5 years myself, enlisted 96B. There are gaming cons all over so wherever you get stationed I'm sure you'll be able to get something. Lots of gamers in the Army too, at least when I was in.

Yea the costumes are great. Really Dragoncon is about fan and geekish community and generally enjoying it which is why I'd like to see Eberron and gaming make a better show at it, I don't think the community aspects of the hobby are played up enough.

Not sure if I ran across you there sorry. :( What events did you end up hitting? What was your take on the gaming there?

Have to confess I'm trying to show off what a good time it is because I'm hoping, in part, it'll convince Keith and any other folks involved in Eberron it would be a good trip. In particular it's something you can bring your SO to as well since it has something for just about everyone.

Hope they see this and think about coming.

Actually I'm a civillian bucking for entry into Army Materiel Command. I'll be making sure those requisitions for M1A2 ammo get filled out. ;)

Lots of gamers in the Army. Folks I know at TACOM are pushing me to start a PBEM (damned acronyms taking over my life already) campaign, but my main priority is to graduate from this internship.

Plenty of time for campaigning (and trips up to Toronto for the "Canadian Ballet") on those cold Detroit winter nights.

Not sure if I ran across you there sorry. :( What events did you end up hitting? What was your take on the gaming there?I didn't get to do any gaming. I didn't have anybody else I knew that was going that I could set up a game with, so I didn't take my books or dice. No books, no dice (other than what I bought from the Chessex table in the exibitor's hall, some cool silver/bronze colored swirl dice), and I didn't want to butt in on a group that was already playing.

If you saw me in costume, you would have gotten a picture, trust me ;)
I was the 6'1" guy in the black and silver diamond scale armor, giant flowing cape, and spike crowned helmet floating on the sea of black that was my head. I'll put up pictures as soon as they get dumped from the camera.

You know, I've never been to a con, they sound like a blast though. Does anyone know if there is one that happens in Texas, near Dallas preferably?

Ah we'll definitly have to try to get some kind of Eberron showcase going next year then. I wasn't around the forums much before the con or I would have tried harder to arrange something. Gaming in Atlanta has taken a dip rescently so I shouldn't have assumed there would be something. The DC cry of "it'll be even better next year" persists. :)

Sounds like a good costume, I actually took around 400 pics and I'll try to look for something fitting that description in the ones I didn't post.

Might be fun to try to do an Eberron costume group next year too, Medeval costumes with visible Dragonmarks or something.

Not the best photo, and I think I've actually lost some weight since then, but it should tell you what to look for :)
