ok i got a huge problem.
now i have a firecraker for a brother, and it would take a lvl30 bard with suggestion to even get him to even consider giving up guns and his character. now frankly, i think that a magic type gun...is... ok... i guess liek it uses a sparkspell that fires the bullet. but what i cant do is explain to him to put down the gun. now i have the Dragon that talks abut guns, which one was that? but i cant get him to put down the gun idea. i mean if i cant reason, you think its a good idea to try and make a magic progectile shooter??

Well, paired magical repeating crossbows are still cool (ala Dark Water dragonbows), but you might want to use the item familiar feats or something similar so that it can level up with him. If it is the boom he is looking for tack on the thundering quality in later levels.

Personally I was thinking that the Spelljammer race of Gith would be an interesting way to slip guns into Eberron.

No firearms are mentioned in the ECS, so I'd say they don't exist in this world. I makes sense to me, that world, in which magic is fairly common, technology does not develop as far as in the real world. As The_Other posted, guns are called "wand of magic missile" on Eberron. But on the other hand it's up to the DM what kind of equipment exists in his campaign world.

Why not let him use a gun? Just let him enhance it like any other weapon and make sure it cost him an exotic weapon(firearm). Problem solved. I am sure it will not make the game play any worse than a magic missle wand. If it is for fun and your brother let it go.

How about this:

Rifle Wand

This wondrous item allows even those untrained in magic to use magical wands to devastating effect in ranged combat.

The item looks like a (insert rifle design of choice here), with a cylindrical hole in the spine. The user need simply insert a standard charged wand that produces a line, ray, projectile, or magic missile effect. By pulling the trigger, the magic inherent in the item "tricks" the wand into thinking it is in the hands of a trained magic user (treat as UMD check with a bonus of anywhere from +5-+20 depending on quality and price of the item), causing the wand to discharge through the barrel of the weapon.

There are a variety of tweaks you could make to this item, such as the exact time it takes to reload a new want, misfire chances, weapon proficiencies, overheat chances, etc. etc. You have guns, without having gun powder and all the baggage in carries.

Good Gaming!
