Here is what I have so far: The PC's are traveling back to Sharn to return the sword from WoVB. They see smoke in the distance and come to a small town with several buildings that are on fire and all the townsfolk slaughtered. After some investigation they discover the culprits: a Rot Reaver (mm3) and his zombies. After dispatching the Rot Reaver they locate the small Gate Keeper site near the town that the beastie obviously came from, with evidence that more than just the Reaver was allowed to escape. It appears that the seal that was binding the aberrations to the site has been removed. With the tracks from the gate keeper site still very fresh they track the escaped critters into the forest where they come accross a young half-orc fighting off a small hord of dolgrims. Whey then help him defeat the dolgrims the half-orc, who is obviously far from home, explains that he has been sent to track and stop someone who is going from binding sight to binding site removing the sacred seals protecting the land from.....arrrrggg.....the half-orc takes an arrow to the throat from a masked shifter that then leads the PC's on a tree to tree chace through the forest. The shifter is an extreem explorer from the Twelve's Aclimation Directoriate. She has the seal strapped to her pack which she looses to the PC's durring the chace, Bust she escapes on an elemental vessle that lowers a ladder to her (thankfully the PC's don't have much ranged attack capabilities). Now here where the trouble is. I'm having trouble thinking of why the Directoriate would be going around retrieving these seals. Just because of who they are it would prabably be a lame reason like "wanting to decipher the secret soup recipes of the Gatekeepers" but I'm thinking that there is something more sinister which involves the personal motivations of one of the mages of the Twelve. If anyone has any ideas on how to bind this all together and where to develop what I have so far your help would be great. |

I remember reading somewhere that Medani also has some members who have joined DB cults, but I don't remember which book or what page or if it was on the forums. Anyway, some Tharashk wizard may want to reverse engineer the seals to learn how he could summon up pseudonatural creatures from Xoriat. It would work out especially well if he had the Least Mark of Finding and used it to locate the seal (and thus the PCs!). |
