| Naudachu08-10-05, 05:53 PM | I was just thinking. Since the Kalashtar don't dream and the Quori don't manifest on the material plane. Would a Kalashtar ever see a Quori? Would they recognize a description of one from someone's dream? I guess they probably have a racial memory that would kick in once they heard the description, but I don't think they would actually come face to face, so to speak. I'm also thinking a Knowledge(Psionics) roll would allow you to recognize one. Hm, what are your thoughts? |
| Thievingrouge08-10-05, 05:58 PM | I would think they would, as they fled Dal quor to avoid persecution, and that it would be taught to aspirants what various Quori appear to look like in natural form. |
| polt08-10-05, 06:29 PM | We learned in the Races of Eberron book that most Kalashtar have weird memories of places they've never been. I imagine some of these memories are seeings of Quori. |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast08-10-05, 06:38 PM | Exactly. While the Kalashtar wont have seen any quori in person, their memories will give them knowledge of how they look. I also expect their teachings and art include Quori images. |

| polt08-11-05, 06:29 AM | Only in their dreams They don't dream do they? |
| Bluebrush08-11-05, 07:28 AM | Well, the Kalashtar sleep, but they don't project their minds to Dal Quor as most other sleepers do. Instead, they recall bits and pieces of their Quori spirit's mind. This is part of what causes Kalashtar madness, remembering someone else's memories, especially when the memories are of a reality where bizarre and impossible things happen every minute. |

| Gurv08-11-05, 10:50 AM | Modern day kalashtar have never had a personal encounter with a quori spirit. Quori cannot manifest physically on Eberron and kalashtar cannot travel to Dal Quor. The closest that the two groups can come is when a quori possesses a mortal. But as others have said, the kalashtar are not without knowledge and information. Even we humans, who do travel nightly to Dal Quor, rarely see them in their natural forms. But the kalashtar each have a piece of a spirit that was once a quori itself. Not only can these spirits impart fragmented memories to the kalashtar, but at one time they were much stronger and lucid; they would have passed what knowledge they could to their allies early in kalashtar history, to the monks who first channeled them. As far as whether a kalashtar can be said to dream, I think it is simply different for them. Their spirits do not travel to Dal Quor, no. And travel to Dal Quor is, in Eberron, the definition of "dreaming". But they do sleep, and when they do so their connection to their quori-spirit refreshes their minds just as contact with Dal Quor does for us. In a way, kalashtar carry their own personal dream with them at all times. It is different than what we do, perhaps closer to memory than to dream, but when kalashtar sleep, images flood their minds, just as they do ours. Those images are the thoughts and memories of the fragmented quori-spirit. |
