| stone_river_glory02-21-06, 08:18 PM | This post is rather long. Read if you really want to help. My party is 8th level now, and its almost 3 years after the Last War. They've been treasure hunting for the last 6 levels, and have accumulated quite a bit of wealth. They've made contact with the Airship owner from the PGtE, and the party rogue is carrying around the Mark of Storms. I've built an adventure that has them recovering an artifact for the Antique dealer they've been working with. It turns out its a ring that belonged to Prince Oargev, that was left in the Capital. The Airship captain agrees to take the party to the edge of the mist. He'll wait 10 days for them to return, and helps them disembark. They follow the Lightning Rail Conducter Stones all the way to the capital, and as long as they stay close to the stones they aren't bothered by any nasty surprises. If they do, something nasty could easily bother them a bit. They make it to the capital, and find that the only building standing is a church to (Insert Deity Here) and parts of the palace. Inside the church, they find a rather crazy Blue Dragon has taken up residence. The people that went to the temple to seek salvation just after the Mourning died there, and the Dragon believes that they are worshiping him. When the PCs first encounter the Dragon, he becomes enraged and orders his followers to take care of the problem, when they don't move he blasts the biggest threat with the lightning breath. At half life, he flies through the gaping hole in the ceiling and flies around outside. If the PCs chase him outside, he fly-by attacks anyone who isn't in a tight grouping, until they get close, then he blasts them again. Once the dragon is defeated, they find that the dragon has recovered the ring into his hoard. This is where they leave. On the ride home, the PCs can make a spot check to notice an airship trailing them, flying Brelish covers. When they get back to Sharn, the shopkeeper turns on them, reporting them to the officials for stealing the artifact and trying to fence it through him. The PCs can run, which is more in their alignments, or stay and get arrested. The arrested individuals are freed later, but the airship captain decides to help them. Halfway to the Lhazaar Principalities, the same Airship from before moves to overtake them. After a very (hopefully) intense battle, the other airship breaks off. The Captain is killed, and the pilot is mortally wounded. The party rogue gets a crash course in Elemental Guiding. The map shows that the base is a Lighthouse. A month after they get to the lighthouse, an emissary comes to the base, and gives them a written appology for the incident, and a letter of credit for trashing the apartment they'd gotten for themselves. I haven't planned for everyone to be arrested but I want them to have access to a base of operations, an Airship with crew, and at least some cash for losing their home and such. I just have a problem with one thing... Does this seem plausible? Chase them out of Sharn, give them a home and base of operations, and then a written appology for it all? |
| Wrathamon02-22-06, 08:44 PM | no Whitehearth is a good Base of Ops from Shadows of the Last war. Also, have you run the part about the blue dragon? I always ran Metrol as being more like a ghost town and not in ruins... it added to teh creepy feeling, like in those zombie movies or that Red Comet movie? where a comic turns everyone to dust (except those protected by metal or those slightly exposed turn into zombies). the latest mark of death book did a pretty decent job with Metrol. A new adventure that is coming out is based heavily on an airship that might have good information for you. a Base and a ship is a cool idea... but the politics of it all doesnt seem plausible. |
| silversai02-22-06, 11:27 PM | Another idea is since you were thinking about the PC"s arrested, you might have a mystery NPC bail them out of jail , but using them as pawns to aquire the base in entry or gain another airship but the goal is for the NPC to keep the new airship or maybe some other plot that you can weave up. |
