Are there any harful effects of eating magically augmented food?
I mean, do plant growth spells modify the food in any way besides the growth? Do Vidalis breeding methods increase the chances of diseased meat? Thoughts? Comments?

This was thought up mainly to fuel the joke "100% Ashbound Chicken"

in the normal scheme of things, no. however, i can see House Cannith cutting costs on some sort of crop- or herd-enhancing item, resulting in that item being cursed. maybe 1% of the crops or herds affected by the item cast a Cause Disease effect on anyone who consumes them. of course, when the heroes finally track down the source, House Cannith pins the blame on a (conveniently dead) rogue artificer.

Maybe if you eat too much magically enhanced food you could develop sorcerous powers.

"FOOL! You cannot defeat me, a man whose power comes from the dragon below himself!"
"My family comes from a long line of proud Seren sorcerers. The power of the golden dragon lineage will smite you!"
"And my power comes from the Eldeen Potato Crisp Corperation!"
"..."
"..."
"DUDE! Your companion is totally cramping your style."
"Look, I know you're lawful good, but couldn't you at least lie about your powers a little?"

Nope, like genetically engineered and irradiated food, its perfectly safe, and its just the unfounded fears of the ignorant (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=ignorant) that prevent us from all enjoying increased yields that almost never rot. Now, everyone go out and buy your magically enhanced grain that most definately did NOT come from an evil source. No, that LoB stamped on the crate stands for... Land of Bounty, not Lord of Blades... ;)

Why does the image of a Warforged Juggernaut sporting overalls and a pitchfork fill me with so much glee?

Or a warforged Titan hauling a plow through a field.
Oooh.. I've gotta use these images in my upcoming campaign.

OOoooH! And that bard who writes books in sharn could write a book called "Teh Jumble" about Vidalis meat-packing plants in the eldeen reaches!

"The Augmented cow meat is mixed with dire rat and dire toad meat..."

and Boranel can create the Pure Food and Drug edict!

Oooh.. I've gotta use these images in my upcoming campaign.Well, just stop and think about the main qualities of a Warforged. They are used to being told what to do, and obeying without question. They have the slave mentality, at least at the start they do. They are very robust from that +2 Con. They have tendencies to be subserviant and compliant (Charisma penalty). They never get tired. They are not subject to poison or disease.

Warforged that aren't snapped up by mercinary groups are quite likely going to get jobs as virtual slaves plowing fields, mucking troughs, and all around doing the exhausting, dirty, unpleasant work that people don't want to do themselves.

Do you remember that "under the glass" piece about cursed magic items that could be considered more "defective" than cursed? The same thing could beapplied here.

I heard that the magical producers of artificial sugar have made claim against the non-magical producers of normal sugar of being too critical.

In game terms, yea, I think if you want that aspect in your game, you could do things like talk about:

* Lead pipes in sharn
* Goblin children eating lead paint in temples from the old goblin empire
* Mercury content in the fish of certain goblin bays
* The dangers of living near high-powered magical ley lines
* The high-risk of lung cancer in halfling weed smokers (but great eyesight)
* Those mad, mad-hatters
* The effect of yellow mold and death-mildew of the lower levels of Sharn on allergies in Elves

I ran a couple of magically altered foods plots. In fact, one tied into the other. The Lord of Blades and his slay living wheat, then later on, a plot involving violent magically altered foods protesters fighting against what they called "Cornforged," which was a magically altered corn crop in Aundair to grow bigger and more robust.

A possible after effect of magically grown foods

Attack of the killer tomatoes :)

Or, more seriously, The day of the triffids.

magically exposed plants start to animate and wander around hungry for human salad. :)
