Hiya kids, I'm Phil and I'm new here, as I'm sure you've already guessed. I've been playin D&D for about 3 years now, having played mostly throughout the Forgotten Realms thanks in part to a Drizzt loving DM. Don't get me wrong, FR is kool and all, but you can only have so much dark elf crammed down your throat over the course of a campaign.

However, I digress, I've found Eberron and it's simply wonderful. I've recently started a campaign and I was wondering if I could get some input.

1. Has anyone either A.) made up the spell-like abilities for the Mark of Death, or B.) found stats for using the Mark of Death? I plan on one of my PC's manifesting it and all Khyber to breaking loose as elves, dragons and the Blood of Vol all try to hunt him down for one reason or another.

2. Has anyone ran any encounters with the Lord of Blades? I recently found his stats in an issue of Dungeon magazine and I'm more than likely going to use those. When my PC's eventually get to him and his crew, I'm more than likely going to run them like Decepticons, mainly due to the fact that they're the only masty, evil metal bad guys I know.

I've got a lot more stuff planned, but I'm not going to bog down a simple "Hello" with all that. In any event, I'm just saying howdy and I'm glad to be here.

Welcome to the Eberron Boards. Glad to have another Realms-weary soul amongst us.

To answer your questions:

1) The powers of the Mark of Death have not been discussed in almost three days now :P . There are approximately three thousand threads devoted to the topic. The Search is down, and I don't have links to the appropriate thread, but I'm sure you'll hear plenty about the Mark of Death, Erandis Vol, and the whole bunch. I think Isram (?) actually compiled a list of such links in his sig.

2) The proper way to run the Lord of Blades varies from DM to DM, and that is how it was meant to be. Like many aspects of Eberron, there is no "official" Lord of Blades, although various versions of him have been and will be printed. Some depict him as you have described. Others see him as a visionary leader who wants an equal role for his people in the world. In some games he is a military type, while in other he is a prophet.

So, I guess I wasn't much help. But you've come to the right place for the topics you're interested in.

Seems like you don't like that player very much ^-^
Welcome! i was also a realms fan but now i see the light!
The lord of blades is designed to be a recurent enemy and a thorn on your player's side. Make him as strong as you want him to be, and remember that if the players are strong, he's strongest

Personally? I would make the LoBster a gestalt Artificer15|Fighter5/Warforged Juggernaut/Spellcarved Soldier5. Then take all three Warforged Fighter substitution levels, and the first two Warforged Artificer substitution levels. Then twink the hell out of him, taking advantage of the 'Tools of War' Warforged Artificer substitution ability. Sprinkle random refinements and special abilities as desired.

Advance or eliminate levels as neccessary, keeping him a minimum of 2 levels above the average PC level.

Serves 5 hapless victims with ease. Capable of handling up to 7 if properly equiped and surrounded by a host of construct gaurdians crafted by the LoBster himself.

As for the Mark of Death, you're on your own. :P We all have our own opinions as to what it can or cannot do, and there should never be an official answer.
