need some suggestions.
i am starting a game and want to run the FORGOTTEN FORGE/SHADOWS OF THE LAST WAR moduals.
but i am having trouble figureing out how to get the party together. this is what they are playing.

Human Artificer from Cyre
Kalashtar Psy-Warrior from Adar
Half-Elf rouge from Breland
Shifter Ranger from Eldeen Reaches
Warforged Fighter from Thrane

any thoughts why such a diverse group would be together?
just looking of something that i have not thought of.

thanks

Well, the Kalashtar has perhaps left Adar due to differences in viewpoint with his peers; I remember Hellcow saying that Kalashtar aren't often psychic warriors with the martial ones being soulknives.

The rest no doubt have their own reason for adventuring? With the Lightning Rail it's easy enough to have them all together in the same city when the campaign starts. You could do the ubiquitous "so you're all sitting in a tavern when a fight breaks out" but, to make it easier, perhaps have the Warforged and the Artificer know each other already. Maybe the Warforged was attacked and the Artificer healed them sometime in the last week.

The way I did it with my current (Forgotten Realms) group was entertaining. The bard had been in town for a while and was growing increasingly bored. She pounced on the first adventuring opportunity and, when asked where the rest of her group was, quickly spun around, looking everywhere and hastily pointed at the other players in turn. They went over to ask her what that was all about and found themselves volounteered for some dirty work.

the largest group of kalastar is in sharn.
it is mentioned in the sharn description i think.

I had a group of pc's and npc's walk from a tavern to the next to get the adventure started. (the tavern got closed due to illness)
the tavern that they were supposed to go to was named "the begin" they never reached it :)

In the game I run, I just told the players that the game started in Sharn, and that their characters were there. Their characters could still be from any region on the continent, but I told them to give me reasons why they were in Sharn. It gets the players a little more involved in the game, and saved me a lot of headache. That and I tend to give a lot of freedom in the player's character's backgrounds.

Just a thought. :D

4 out of the 6 PC's in my current campaign met on the Lightning Rail to Sharn, and the other 2 were already in Sharn.

How about they all were prisoners of the Last War, detained by the Karrnathi military? Even though the Last War ended about 2 years ago, the paperwork releasing them from custody just came through (you know how fast those zombies write....).

Just a thought.
