| DwarvinJedi06-12-05, 04:16 PM | I am finally able to play in Eberron, I am happy, I have been Dming for the past 3 months, but I am playing online, going through the published adventures, and me being my indecisive self can't decide what to play: A Reality Seeker(Changeling) Cleric A Shifter Moonspeaker A Kalashtar Soulknife(pursuing Atavist, there is one other Soulkinfe in the party, I am joining late) or Monk(also eventually Atavist), or Paladin An Adaran Human Psion A marked Orien Rogue LN Necro elven cleric of the BoV (the group needs some sort of healer, and a trap person) I am really not big into divine casters, especially druids, but I was reading through RoE, and loved the rp aspect of the Reality Seekers, and Moonspeakers, I am warming up to Kalashtar(at first I didn't like them), also I don't want to play something I don't want, jsut to make a useful party), Can you help me, or should I just roll to decide (I do that a lot) |
| DemonLordEnigma06-12-05, 04:43 PM | Go for the necro. A lot of people have hatred for psions left over from 2E, even though that was two editions ago. |
| ussie06-12-05, 07:26 PM | or go for a good necromancer, |
| DwarvinJedi06-12-05, 08:24 PM | or go for a good necromancer, I was trying to avoid that |
| Ohtar Turinson06-12-05, 10:17 PM | I'd go with Psion or the rogue. (Actually, normally I'd go with a wizard, but of your options I like psion next most.) If you need a traps guy, a rogue/artificer could work well. |
| ussie06-12-05, 11:07 PM | NE cleric of Vol (necro domain) or Stillborn evil necromander pretending to be a good necromancer |
| ILL34GL306-12-05, 11:18 PM | Need a healer? Can't do better than a Radiant Servant of (Pelor) the Soveriegn Host. Need a trap guy? Can't do better than a rogue. And the changeling looks really great for this class if you want to be the party "face" and take some social skills. Here's my opinion of an optimized party: Wizard (Arcane mechanic and all around knowledgeable guy) Druid (what can't he do?) Cleric (shooting for Radiant Servant) Rogue (the sneaky trap guy) Favored Soul (too good not to be an excellent 5th man) |
| talion0906-12-05, 11:53 PM | Orien Rogue. I played one of these last year from up 5th (joined mid-campaign) to 10th level, and he worked out really well. I only went rogue until I could get into extreme explorer though. |
| D4rkchylde06-13-05, 08:25 PM | For online play I suggest the Orien Rogue. |
| PoeticJustice06-13-05, 09:15 PM | It's not on your list, but my favorite Eberron character was a overweight, overbearing cleric of The Church of the Silver Flame named Porter. He didn't do a whole lot outside of RP but meatshield and buff, but the chance to preach to countless NPCs was a lot of fun. It also brought out the morality conflicts in Eberron (Do I take the easy way out by stealing, or torturing people? Is it better to ride a horse and give my Train fare to the poor because I don't really need to get to Wroat in a day?) Even more so than in the case of a Paladin, because their bound to a code and you're not. Also, there's nothing better than playing faith healer by smacking people on the forehead as hard as you can while screaming "BE HEALED! DARKNESS BEGONE! BE HEALED!" |
| Trannic06-13-05, 09:35 PM | Go with a warforged Psion, you don't need charisma or a huge amount of wisdom, but you can really up the intelligence, then add Mithral or Adamntine body to make him harder to kill at low levels. Go Egoist for useful ways to bump your abilities and armor. Besides what's cooler than I giant hulking figure striding in and then blasting away with his mind. Otherwise I'd go with the changeling cleric or the Orien rogue. |
| Gunrock06-13-05, 09:52 PM | A marked Orien Rogue I suspect you'll have a lot of fun with this one. |
| DwarvinJedi06-14-05, 12:17 AM | I suspect you'll have a lot of fun with this one. Yeah originally for my campaign I was going to have a sort of anti-party with an Orien Bard as the leader, but in the other online game I'm in(non-Eberron) I am playing a Dwarven Bard. But Orien is my favorite house, even though I like dwarves, I prefer Orien to Kundarak. I kind of want to play the paladin, but this is tempting |
| Crimsonsun06-14-05, 05:26 AM | Out of those listed, the rogue But seriously consider an artificer too, not only can you be the trap guy, but you can be the healer too! Wands, potions, and scrolls! Oh My! :D |
| Aloïsius06-14-05, 11:14 AM | A golden warforged : a bard specialized in protocol and diplomatical matters, who speaks a lot of tongues and is the ultimate coward. :D |
| Atch06-14-05, 11:53 AM | 1st level Artificer and then add levels of Rogue after the first = 6th level character that sneak attacks with improved feint, an action point, and personnal weapon augmentation and hits for +5d6 without a crit. *shiver* :gah: or a orc druid that HATES clerics so much so that he won't heal someone unless they promise never to use the services of a cleric again...makes for a lot of fun when the party comes across something that a druid can't do... :looloo: or an Aerenal Monk that looks like death warmed over and hits like a mummy on steriods... :smirk: |
| aelryinth06-14-05, 08:27 PM | Artificer all the way. Use/Make Cure wands, buff your Search and DD skill, and peruse the Optimized Artificer Thread off the Optimization boards to find all the sweet goodness you can pull with maxed out wands. ==Aelryinth |
