Yo guys

One of our players is giving The Worlds largest dungeon a try as his first time DMing. I know it's not very Eberronish but we are all Eberron fans and we are trying to work some of the setting into it. Anyway, it's a pretty though place to adventure and my character got killed by a stupid trap (8d8 damage on a lvl 3 kalashtar psion). Now I'm building a new character and I was hoping to get some help building his background.

Ok here goes, I just bought both the Dragon Magic book and the Faiths of Eberron book and after playing the psion I now feel like playing a more melee oriented guy again. The Dragon Adept is kinda cool and I've made a Dwarf Dragon Adept lvl4 with a Dragon Tail (feat from Races of the Dragon) mostly for roleplaying reasons as it is not that effective in combat.
So I basically have a dwarf with traces of dragon in his blood and a tail that must have drawn a lot of attention when he was growing up. Since he is not the direct offspring of a dragon-dwarf union his family are probably much like him making them most likely outcasts. Ever since reading about the blood of Vol in the campaign setting it's been pretty much my favourite religion aside from the flame and I see this work very well for him. This dwarf kid growing up and being thought to fear the rest of the civilized world, to be cautious all the time, to keep a low profile. A sect as the Blood might appeal a lot to him, them teaching to respect, and more, worship the blood within. The very blood that has made him an outcast they treat as divine. He would climb fast in their ranks as his extraordinary talents and antisocial nature would most certainly draw the attention of the crimson covenant. I want him to be part of the Emeral Claw, it seems the perfect spot for him. The question is how much does he know ? I must admit my current knowledge of the Claw is very limited. All insights/ideas/feedback/suggestions are very much welcome!

cheers

Emerald Claw isn't that likely as they are ultra-Karrnathi nationalists more than anything else. (Well they secretly serve Vol at the higher levels but I doubt a level 4 PC would know that)

There ARE dwarven Karrnathi nationalists, of course. Secon-largest population in Karrnath. They didn't all hightail it to the holds.

As he's not a cleric, he'd probably be given the mushroom treatment by his superiors.

I agree with Thwyvylyn and DWK, the Emerald Claw is a group of nationalists supported (behind the scenes) by the Blood of Vol in order to undermine Kaius III's rule of Karrnath. Most EC-ers are probably in it for simple anarchistic pleasure (vandals and terrorists) while some may actually see it as a means to improve and strengthen their homeland, and simply overlook some of the tactics employed. I could see your character more as a follower of the Blood of Vol, but perhaps he could be (or had been) recruited to the EC, if the World's Largest Dungeon allows much role-playing, the EC could have it's own reasons for wanting him in there... Maybe he's looking for something specific (or maybe someone?), and when he finds it, they'll promote him, and give him more info... Eventually, depending on his own convictions, your character could decide the EC isn't for him after all and he could try to fight against them, which could pose all kinds of problems. If you decide to stay with the EC, they could give you more dangerous and difficult (and meaningful) missions.

Good luck.

hmmm, ok so maybe the EC isn't the place for him. On the other hand I do not agree with the statement that at level 4 he means little. In Eberron level 4 is already quite powerfull.

His quest seems very straight forward, he is a soldier in the service of the Blood and has made an impression over the years so he is moving up. They send him and a few nobodies into what is believed to be a prison build by celestials ages ago to trap fiends (Worlds largest Dungeon). His mission is to return with secrets concerning life and death that will further the cause of the Blood (or not return at all).

His exact connection to the blood and how much he knows is yet to be determened. I guess at some time he stumbled into the faith and after a while someone noticed his fighting potential and started using him for "the dirty work" to further the goals of the faith. His accomplishments and determination got him involved in deeper and more secretive missions for the Blood. I guess by now he might not know anything at all about Vol or the Crimson Covenant but he is in contact with people in high places within the blood and his eyes have seen a lot. I'll play a Lawful Evil alignment with unquestional loyalty to the blood and its goals. The blood is where he found a home, a family that accepts him. He is as loyal to them as he is uncaring about the rest of the civilized world that cast his family out.

Cool, Setheriel. I like what you've got going there! Enjoy!
