| DBlizzard10-20-04, 08:20 AM | I'm getting ready to run an ongoing campaign in Eberron. I'm toying with following campaign concept and would like some ideas bounced around and commented on. I'm thinking about having Quori mastermind have an "evil plan" the players will keep stumbling into. His plan is to try to gain a creation forge and experiment to develop an "Inspired Warforged." There are all sorts of things he could be doing towards this direction. He has to work out a way to possess something besides a human (specifically, a warforged). He might try increasing his possession ability so he can possess a warforged or he might try making a warforged "more human" (of course, that Races of Eberron Warforged prestige class may eventually come into play). Of course, he either has to gain a creation forge or set up an alliance with someone who has one and would be willing to help his experiments. The best thing about this is it doesn't have to be possible. The Quori (and his Inspired) just have to believe its possible. Any thoughts? |

If anything it will be easier, if it's more like possessing an object. (As an aside, maybe a drawback to the Warforged Juggernaut prestige class, as the character becomes more like a standard construct, it becomes easier to possess?) Edit: Dang, the point about warforged not sleeping certainly destroys my point in regards to quori possession (but not necessarily other possessions). But during the Quori-Giant war, the quori had access to the Material Plane, so either the creation of the warforged was a response to the quori being cut off from the Material Plane, or it was unrelated to the quori at all, it would seem to me. |

And who tangled with the Quori the first time? The giants. I am under the inpression that the giants used warforged because the possessed immunity to much of what the quori could do. I think that it was for similar reasons that they used elves and drow as slaves. Since they don't sleep, they were a little harder for the quori to harrass, and the bonus against Enchantments couldn't hurt either. So, if any of that is true, it is possible that the quori working on the warforged thing in your game might have been thinking about it for many thousands of years. It might even be possible that the reason the giants stopped using warforged was because the quori discovered a way to possess them. If they rediscover that technique... |

However of a Quori this simpler thing then one would think. It just has to bombard a sleepers mind for months until they find out what they need. It would start with the heads of the three Cannith factions. The symptoms would likely be nightmares base on the Last the War and the things they did during it. Also remember that time is not a major issue for them overall. You'll need to find a reason that would drive a Quori into a faster pace of action. Acting in months not years or decades. |

Just because he wants a "better" Inspired, doesn't mean he can't have one now. Something that might be worth adding to your plans is the fact that the ancient giants of Xen'drik also had warforged, or something very much like them (its likely that Xen'drik is where House Cannith found the info to make them). Oh, that's been part of my plan. That just opens up the areas I can have them exploring. |
