It's a "horror" campaign (as per heroes of horror) and takes place in a village just outside the borders of the mournland. I am ripping off Matt Forbeck's "Marked for Death" book to a degree, (The whole re-emergence of the 13th mark and what not...) I also want to include the lord of blades... In my game the lord of blades is Aaren d'Cannith. When he was kicked out of the family he went nuts and transferred his soul into a warforged... So he has a working forge in the mournland, and has also kidnapped his grandson to help. I have the blood of Vol seeking a child who bears the mark of death, (one of the pc's adopted daughter, the father is a warforged...) I have the blood of vol and the lord of blades working in kahoots sp? and the lord of blades is also making a new type of warforged... the deathforged... he basically takes an existing soul, from the battlefields of the mournland, and sticks it into a warforged. The soul is bat **** crazy and tormented, and the warforged takes on the undead sub-race.... so they're crazy ass, mean, warforgeds here's my problems.... I don't know why they are helping eachoter, but I have the blood of vol and the lord of blades helping eachother... I guess the blood of vol showed the LOB how to transfer/steal the souls of the fallen soldiers... yadda yadda... My main thing is... I'd like to have an explanation for the glass plateau and the glowing chasm... I'd like to have both of these things tied into the lord of blades and the blood of vol... Also in my game the LOB IS responsible for the day of mourning, but I do not yet know how he did it... possibly with the BOV's help? I also do not know what abilities or why the BOV wants the child with the 13th (death) dragonmark... the other 12 dragonmarks are good, but not like it's going to change the world if they fall into the wrong hands kind of thing.... I would also love some general ideas, if you have a thought let me know! Thanks! |

The deathforged, however ... NICE. I generally despise any attempt to make "undead" warforged (IMHO it shouldn't be able to happen), but this seems really cool. They kinda remind me of Chaos Dreadnoughts and Defilers from Warhammer 40,000. Hmm. WH40K + Warforged. Now THERE'S an idea. |
| nfras11-29-05, 08:37 PM | I would suggest you avoid having LOB and BOV working together. It seems to me that a warforged with a human soul isn't really a WF. It's just a vessel for the human soul. Warforged would see it as using their bodies as shells for another's soul (very Quori like). Here's how I would link the whole thing together: Note: Have Aaren d'Cannith want to be a warforged but unable to become one (see below) Erandis d'Vol was turned into a lich by an Eldritch Machine that was built by the House Vol. It was destroyed during the purges but parts of the schema to build it exist. Vol wants to rebuild it, but it requires a Vol dragonmark to operate and she doesn't have the skills to rebuild it. So she has "allowed" information of the machine to be found by the LoB's followers. The information tells of a machine that "reforges" humans into an "eternal" form. Aaren has taken this to mean it transforms humans into warforged and wants to become a warforged. He needs to track down the parts of the schema in order to build it. When it is completed Vol will attempt to take the machine for herself. Possible hooks: The PCs are contacted by a warforged who appears to work for House Cannith who asks them to track down the parts of the schema. The PCs are contacted by the Undying Court who seek to destroy the schema (they only recently found out it still exists) The Undying Court want to set a trap for Vol and have made a fake schema that will explode with positive energy, hopefully killing Vol when she tries to use it. They want the PCs to replace the genuine schema with the fake one. An Aurum wants the PCs to buy a lich's phylactery from an auction in Sharn. When the Aurum is killed the PCs are implicated and need to find the real killer. During this investigation they stumble on the LoB's plan. Vol kidnaps girl with Vol mark. The PCs must track her down before she can be used to operate the machine. Bad Guys: They PCs can be helped or hindered by BOV and LoB depending on the above. The Aurum can be involved. The Chamber could become embroiled. The PCs could find themselves on the wrong side of the Undying Court. When the Undying Court find out that someone has manifested the mark of Death, they will certainly get involved, probably by trying to kill that person. I wouldn't involve the Day of Mourning, it's just too big. You could insinuate that the explosion was caused by Aaren trying to tinker with a forge and causing the massive Eldritch explosion, or he might have done it deliberately, to create an area that only WF could inhabit. Anyway, hope this gives you some ideas. |
