| Bocamb06-13-06, 10:31 AM | I started writing a dungeon that takes my party through the Byeshk mountains via a destroyed mine north of Suthar Draal in Droaam. My basic idea is that the mine was destroyed by the Daelkyr several thousand years ago in a head-on assault: umber hulks carved passages into the mines with destrachans immediately following to collapse the mines on the heads of the goblinoids. The Daelkyr then rigged traps and placed monsters so that they could leave the mine behind and not have to worry about it ever being started up again. My goal with the dungeon is to provide clues as to the history of what happened by recycling the victims (the original Dhaakhani miners). For example, in the Dhaakhani foundry, my players discovered a crucible that the Daelkyr used to boil down the goblinoid miners in order to produce a large gibbering mouther. Around the edge of the crucible were etchings in the Daelkyr language that the PCs identified as a temporal stasis spell to keep the mouther locked in until disturbed. I'd like to stick in one or two traps that have a distinctly Daelkyr feel and challenge to them. My party is 7th level (paladin/exorcist of silver flame; diviner; shifter barbarian; gatekeeper). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
