| Kaz the DM09-27-06, 08:28 PM | Please help me right the wrong that Turbine has done to the Warforged. In DDO Warforged have to take feats to get the immunities they rightfully deserve while all other races have exactly what they are supposed to. Petition (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/964291678) If this post belongs somewhere else please let me know. |
| Shady31409-27-06, 08:30 PM | DDO is not truely D&D. You can't take the PnP rules and directly translate every single one into a computer. I don't play DDO and I'm not going to pass judgement on a game design decision I know nothing about. |
| Nived09-27-06, 09:28 PM | I'm with shady on this one. A 1:1 translation is impossible, so trust that there's a reason for it. Remember game designers are geeks too. |
| Edymnion09-27-06, 09:39 PM | Online petitions don't work. They have never worked. They're fine as a way to vent, but there is only *ONE* way to tell a company that you don't like their product. Don't buy it. If you want to get your point across, cancel your subscription to DDO. Send them an email saying why you canceled your subscription. Get as many other people as you can to also cancel their accounts and send the reason in. The only way you will get anything accomplished is by hitting them in the only place it hurts, in the pocket book. |
| Splendide09-27-06, 10:34 PM | I'd love to help out, but my gnome doesn't even exist so I can't. |
| Thwyvylyn09-27-06, 11:56 PM | I'd love to help but I can't do Changelings, Shifters, or Kalashtar and besides it just don't feel like Eberron really. I mean they didn't even include Artificers cause they didn't want player created items. WoW has PC made items, EQ/EQ2 has them, EVE: Online has them...well you get my point. If want to go MMO I'll do it elsewhere than DDO. |
| Save-vs-DM09-28-06, 01:49 AM | I told them the same when I cancelled my subscription..they got a long little rant in a polite tone of why I left. It had so much potential...and sqaundered it like a Kender sqaunders coppers. Cheers, Save vs DM |
| Peobp09-28-06, 03:20 AM | I actually hope the game will go bankrupt. It is a joke from start to finish. |
| DiscoGobbo09-28-06, 07:37 AM | I'm something of a veteran MMO player. It saddens me to see the nonsense of MMO forums leak into here. An Online Petition has in fact worked once in the history of the genre. The target was even Turbine in their first game:Asheron's Call. However, it was a petition to buff the White Rabbit monster (ala Monty Python) to a more fearsome level. Players had gotten too powerful and were killing the little guy with ease. So they made him level 666 with a insta-death attack, restoring him to his former level of terror of the west coast. The downside of this little bit of fan service is that it reinforced the idea that petitions actually meant someting. :P |
| Kaz the DM09-28-06, 09:59 AM | I told them the same when I cancelled my subscription..they got a long little rant in a polite tone of why I left. It had so much potential...and sqaundered it like a Kender sqaunders coppers. Cheers, Save vs DM Save we were truley sad to see you leave. There are fewer founders every day. As for the races that do not exsist yet I am sorry that they did not include them and I have in my signature on the boards that ask for the core races and classes. For the people that say you can't have the "1:1" you can, they implemented Drow exactly from the books. For a game that is doing it right and has so much potential it is a shame that they fail to fix something easy ... and it is easy. As for a petition ... well all I can do is try and if I get 1000 signatures then that shows them that they are not listening to the populace and if they do not fix anything soon after, then I will leave. I came in the Army at 5'10 129lbs and they told me that I wouldn't cut it at Fort Bragg ... 1 Year later I was 180lbs solid and no one could match me physically. Point is never say you can't and always give it your all and you can never go wrong. | Kaz the DM10-03-06, 05:51 PM | Bump |
| Edymnion10-03-06, 08:05 PM | Except for one fact. Companies don't listen to online petitions like the one you did for one little reason. There is no way to ensure that each person signs only once. A hundred people signing up as ten differant names gets a thousand signatures pretty quick. A single person could sign them all if they really wanted to. Hence, online petitions are *NOT* seen as a valid form of change, because it is so terribly easy to fake a following that isn't there. |
| MrFilthyIke10-03-06, 11:10 PM | Well, Turbine has impleted some things that have been regularly clamored for, for good or ill. I enjoy the game, and would like to see it improve. And yes Save, your idea is best. But, as there is a limited number of people playing, if we all quite in protest, Turbine will shut it down, and Wizards will have "proof" that an online d&d game won't work. I have no solutions. I just keep playing cos I'm having fun, and if things we want are added, all the better. |
| Beavisfett10-04-06, 01:15 AM | Well even though it wont help I agree the warforged of ddo were nerfed a little to much, they needed to be toned down a little to make sure not everyone wanted to play one but they went way to far. and yes I played the game and may do so again soon. |
| Beavisfett10-04-06, 01:17 AM | I'd love to help but I can't do Changelings, Shifters, or Kalashtar and besides it just don't feel like Eberron really. Yeah but even with player items wow still bites, and you forgot swg has player items and until they broke the game player items were better then anything you could have found. |
| Thwyvylyn10-04-06, 03:59 PM | Yeah but even with player items wow still bites, and you forgot swg has player items and until they broke the game player items were better then anything you could have found. Biting or not, they can still be made. |
| Giarc10-04-06, 06:48 PM | For the people that say you can't have the "1:1" you can, they implemented Drow exactly from the books. For a game that is doing it right and has so much potential it is a shame that they fail to fix something easy ... and it is easy. What I've put in bold is one of the reasons I left. The last straw, to be exact. They didn't have Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, or Gnomes, let alone the Kalashtar, Shifters or Changelings, but they put in Drow??? And Warforged needed their immunities back, since that might have made people keep them in their parties. I've been in parties that would find out that a guy was WF and boot him. Heck, there was even a guild named "No Warforged". The WF got jacked in DDO, and all that love went to the Halflings (no smaller dice for Small size and no movement penalty). |
| Edymnion10-04-06, 10:21 PM | But, as there is a limited number of people playing, if we all quite in protest, Turbine will shut it down, and Wizards will have "proof" that an online d&d game won't work. That is why you mail them with the REASON you left, and not just cancel your account outright without saying a word. If the entire game fails because people don't like how they handled Warforged, the message will be "Hey, Turbine screwed up by misshandling the material. Lots of people bought the game, but they all quit shortly thereafter. This is feasable, but it has to be handled much more delicately than the last guys did it." |
| cancerousmango10-04-06, 11:58 PM | Yeah, DDO sucks, it's an Asheron's Call 2 mod with kobolds kobolds kobolds! |
| Kaz the DM10-05-06, 10:42 AM | What I've put in bold is one of the reasons I left. The last straw, to be exact. I know, and that will be my next fight, to get all the other races involved. But the fight I am taking now is the easier one. Warforged are already in the game, so to me its an easy fix. I agree halflings are broken ... and I purposely have never made a halfling. But for those of us who only play this MMO for the feel of DnD I will continue the fight, I have 66 signatures ... and to the person who said that people can sign multiple times, well when I see a double entry with e-mail addresses I delete them. |
| Kaz the DM10-05-06, 10:43 AM | Yeah, DDO sucks, it's an Asheron's Call 2 mod with kobolds kobolds kobolds! Please save your flaming for another thread. Thank you. |
| MrFilthyIke10-05-06, 03:48 PM | Please save your flaming for another thread. Thank you. Heh, it's called the internet...thus it's full of flamers and trolls. :D |
| MrFilthyIke10-05-06, 03:51 PM | That is why you mail them with the REASON you left, and not just cancel your account outright without saying a word. Lots of people bought the game, but they all quit shortly thereafter. This is feasable, but it has to be handled much more delicately than the last guys did it." Except there are folks that like it as is. I think you'd need damn near the entire membership to leave to make an impact. And most folks can't be bothered with writing to Turbine, they'll be mad/sad and just walk away. |
| Edymnion10-05-06, 11:55 PM | and to the person who said that people can sign multiple times, well when I see a double entry with e-mail addresses I delete them.So you just sign it with a differant email address. Its just as easy to sign up with your hundredth signature as it is your first one, and all you have to do is use @yahoo.com and then make up words and add numbers to it to make it look real. Jane McArthur jmac@yahoo.com Stewart Archer archer73@yahoo.com Timothy O'Neil 1337hawkman@yahoo.com Etc, etc, etc. And if I mixed up the address with @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, etc, there would be no way for anyone to know if it was real or fake. |
| Giarc10-06-06, 12:16 AM | Edy, you seem to know too much about internet scamming! |
| cancerousmango10-06-06, 03:25 AM | BTW, I'm not flaming, I'm just expressing how disappointed I was with the game. It's a real shame. When I think of what DDO could've been; viz, set in KHORVAIRE, with the actual races from the game, and enemies other than kobolds, and a combat system that didn't feel like a feeble, mouthbreathing offspring of WoW and Tomb Raider, I get annoyed. Just like the D&D movie, what potential there. Tell one of Drizzt's stories, a movie about Elminster, the Isle of Dread, anything other than Jeremy Irons slumming it, being forced to read awful lines. Not flames, just anger. |
| Salla10-06-06, 03:43 AM | Just like the D&D movie, what potential there. Tell one of Drizzt's stories, a movie about Elminster, Oh, HELL no ... |
| Thrincold10-06-06, 10:35 AM | Just a note, they didn't implement the Drow as they are written in the books. They are playable from 1st level as a base race. That is a major change. I don't like DDO, I played the free demo and didn't look back. With their limited player base and loss of players I fear for this to be the final DND online game. Unfortunately Wizards will see a failure of this game as a lack of interest or desire from players, not as a failure of implimentation. |
| cancerousmango10-06-06, 10:43 AM | Oh, HELL no ... That was just an example, those would sell better. An Eberron movie would slay. Just take all the Wayne Reynolds covers, and string them together into a plot. Instant gold. |
| WNG_pfoster10-06-06, 02:07 PM | Temple of Elemental Evil (the CRPG) was a pretty good 1:1 conversion of D&D, in fact a lot of the way 3.5e works is well suited to computers. Yeah, it was turn based so it wouldn't work as well in a MMO. (And it was pretty buggy performance/stability wise) Disappointing. That's all I'll say about DDO. |
| Thwyvylyn10-06-06, 02:46 PM | My question is how in the Nines Turbine actually got this contract and the LOTR one too. At least Warhammer is in decent hands. |
| MartM10-07-06, 02:06 AM | DDO have many interesting quest, well scripted and designed. I wish for Domains for Cleric, all races, Artificier and Craft feats, they eventually be integrated (i hope so). you've already got my name for the petition. But i understand that the PnP is a very, very controlled environment, MMO are, by definition; wide open, so a translation to one form to another needs more than a few tweaks. And for those who are complaining about waves of kobold... a few lvl later, you,ve got wave of ogres, hill giants, bugbears, skeletons, zombies, worgs, winter wolves, gargoyles, Marut, Iron Golem, Wight, Wraith, Ghost, Spiders and troll...among others... That is very satisfying! |
| AkumaDaimyo10-07-06, 05:41 AM | You could stop wasting your time with DDO and a online petition they wont listen to and play NWN 2 and learn to do some scripting and script Warforged you know. I HOPE they have some way to do Eberron with NWN 2. They better. |
| MartM10-07-06, 07:08 PM | Actually, it's on the way: http://eberronmod.com/ |
| Kaz the DM10-08-06, 09:18 PM | We did it!!!!! (http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=319) Thank you "The Brotherhood of Steel" for the info! |
| AkumaDaimyo10-08-06, 09:58 PM | And what about other races who have to take things they are supposed to get for free? Such as the drow? Your supposed to get SR+1 at every level you advance. You should NOT have to take an enhancement feat to get it. They need to do that for ALL the races not just warforged. Otherwise it is quite frankly, bs. I also still say once NWN 2 is out people will be like "What is DDO?" |
| Kaz the DM10-08-06, 10:38 PM | And what about other races who have to take things they are supposed to get for free? Such as the drow? Your supposed to get SR+1 at every level you advance. I also still say once NWN 2 is out people will be like "What is DDO?" Yes, but you have to gain a measly 450 favor to unlock an ECL 2 ... get over it. I play a drow as well and I am quite happy with that race ... they did it right. Next is Core Races and Classes then Eberron Races ... perfection takes time. |
| AkumaDaimyo10-08-06, 11:19 PM | No, they didn't "do it right". If they are going to give Warforged their abilities for free then they need to do it for other races as well. Too little too late IMO. and YOu get over it for Warforged. Most people hate them as they get played by people who think they can tank cause they have some DR, get owned and then whine for healing and the healing has 1/2 affect on them. Everyone playing needs to get their ablities for free that they are supposed to get for free, not just Warforged. But I see that you probably don't care about anything outside of what your playing. Not like it will matter as I said. DDO will die pretty quickly with NWN 2 on the way. Who wants to pay to play a game when they can play in a free server run by a possible friend who can create custom made stuff for them? Also a lot of people playing DDO were complaining about it not being FR and NWN 2 is FR by default. I like DDO and Eberron but its just the truth that NWN 2 will take a lot of players away from it. |
| MartM10-09-06, 01:25 AM | DDO will stay, for it's fast fun and quick action type of game. NWN 2 will attract those who,ve got time and friends who those too. I'm eager to see NWN 2, but i still don't have time for long adventure with strong backstory; after two weeks without playing time, coming back is always though, downright frustrating. And by talking with other DDO players, i,ve learned that i'm not alone. We all prefer strong story, with complex intrigue and memorable NPCs, but we don't have time. we've got wives/husband, child, parents, jobs, houses to maintain, real life friends and real PnP D&D... Which will always be THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE! |
| AkumaDaimyo10-09-06, 09:31 AM | Actually I've found quite a few NWN sessions to be just as good if not better than most PNP. |
| MrFilthyIke10-09-06, 10:35 AM | Actually I've found quite a few NWN sessions to be just as good if not better than most PNP. Why do you keep posting? Looking for a fight? AkumaDaimyo <-- teh intarnet is serious business btw, you DO know that by using NWN2 you're still supporting Atari/Turbine, right? |
| AkumaDaimyo10-09-06, 03:33 PM | Why did YOU post? Looking for a fight? And yeah I do know that. I never said Turbine would lose buisness, only that DDO would lose people to NWN 2 because it has more to offer, there is also a huge anticipation for the game and because it's set in FR by default which a lot of people were complaining about in DDO, about that it wasn't set in FR which they ethier considered to be better or more popular. |

You continue to flame and look for a fight ... oh and YOU forget that halflings are not penalized for weapon size do you? Oh and btw which races are not getting their full abilities except for Drow? They are balancing the game, I agree NWN 2 will be great but then again ... I have a life and sometimes all I have time for is a quick PUG and thats it. |
| AkumaDaimyo10-10-06, 05:09 PM | I may have forgotten that but it's not like I said halflings should NOT be penalized for weapon size, which they should be. Otherwise that makes them a bit more powerfull than they should be. And no I don't really flame. Flameing would imply I'm insulting people and I haven't called anyone a name or anything yet, not like insinuating people who don't have lives will be playing NWN 2 vs people who do play DDO. |

| cancerousmango10-10-06, 10:17 PM | Um yeah, whatever that means.See, spread confusion, not hate. This guy's alright. |
| Giarc10-10-06, 11:27 PM | We did it!!!!! (http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=319) Glad to hear it! I do hope that the game succeeds, as I love the Eberron setting. I may come back if it keeps making improvements. I pre-ordered NWN2 yesterday, and look forward to seeing the Eberron mod for it. We'll see. |

Though if your never on when the DM is or when the other players are you miss out on the RP and personalized quests or events. |
