I'm running a game with three level 4 characters who just finished Shadows of the Last War. I'm not continuing with the published series (well, I might do Grasp at some point, we'll see). What's going on now: On the boat ride back to Sharn from Darguun, the ship ran into some trouble. Bad weather and sauhaguin corpses floating in the water led to the ship being attacked by a kraken (ominous!). Obviously not an actual kraken, which would have slaughtered everyone - I basically gave them a time limit (unspoken) before the ship was destroyed and a number of large-sized tentacles to kill. Of course they succeeded, although a couple crew members were killed in the process. At the end of the last session they arrived in Sharn. The situation as it stands is this: Lady Ellaydren had informed them of the location of the last schema: a recently excavated ruin in Xen'drik, so the destination is Stormreach. However, something's going on with the Thunder Sea - strange weather, attacks by sea creatures, and the sauhaguin are extremely ******, but no one knows why, so sea travel is right out. I'm not sure myself what the cause is yet. House Cannith has the answer, though - they've hired a freelance airship called the Skyswift to make the journey. So, there we are. The Journey: I'd like something to happen during the crossing to Xen'drik. I was thinking an attack by one or more storm elementals (MM3), thus causing the elemental in the ship to go crazy. Maybe have multiple outcomes - if they do a good enough job defeating the elementals they land safely in Stormreach, if not they might crash some distance away. Comments, suggestions? Okay, so they get to Stormreach one way or another. If anyone's done any fleshing out of the city I'd appreciate it, but whatever. I don't think I want the site itself to be too far from the city, maybe a day or two at the most. Once they get there they discover a number of different groups are excavating in and around the site, although House Cannith has the main ruin staked out. This is where it gets tricky; why can the party get in but they couldn't? Any sort of trap or puzzle seems unlikely, as Cannith has pretty vast resources at their disposal. More likely would probably be some sort of danger, although then I figured they'd found the schema's location some time ago (they finding it the same week the party gets #3 seems too coincidental). So I'm not sure. I think the ruin itself will be some combination of House Cannith facility disguised as a ruin and overrun with some outside force, monsters or somesuch. I'd love any and all comments and suggestions about any of this. Changes, details, telling me how cool I am, whatever. Thanks! |

Cannith wants the item, so they confine Stormreach ( or a part of it ) until they find the item. At this point, the PCs might intervene to try and find out what's wrong. They mix around, poking their noses into Cannith's business. They might then have to escape. Alright? please, can I have some comments too? |
