Alright check it out everyone. I'm hoping I can get some feedback from you guys and gals on my campaign and upcoming game session.

Here what I have so far. If this were your game where would you go with it?

Main Characters:

Elora Faeranduil:(Snapshot)
4th Lvl Gatekeeper Aspirant (w/ hunting party of 2nd lvl shifters)

Hunting Party:
2nd Lvl Scout (NPC Class)
2nd Lvl Ranger
2nd Lvl Barbarian

Daryn DaMorin;soon to be Daryn ir' DaMorin (aspiring Knight of Cyre)
1st Lvl Gentleman (Aristocrat) 2nd Lvl Warrior

I know many of you may wonder why the NPC classes for the PC, but there is a method to my madness. Please do not focus on that, what I need help with is the story.

Main Supporting Character:

Oarsen Helmsworth:
3rd Lvl Explorer (Rogue)

This is the story thus far.

Daryn DaMorin, born in Cyre (obviously pre-Mourning) grew up in the home of his parents during his early childhood. When he came of age he was sent to live with his uncle Godmund DaMorin to learn the ways of the Cyran Knighthood, and when he had done all that was required, and had come of appropriate age, to then take the mantle of Knight of Cyre.

He served as a page for many years and at the appropriate time was give the title of squire or shield bearer.

It was at this time that his uncle’s detachment was called to the Cyran front and of course Daryn went with him. The Cyran unit won the day and it was at this time that the Mourning took place.

As they Dead Gray Mists rushed over the land Daryn felt a great heat upon him his whole body ablaze and then time itself seemed to stand still; nothing moved save he and his, a dark and cloaked figure now upon the field, and the Mists, though where once the Mist moved with powerful fury they now only slowly approached.

Realizing the opportunity Daryn and his uncle had been given they made haste to drive as much distance as they could between themselves and the Mists and for a time all went well. Then as suddenly as time had stopped it resumed and the terrible fury of the Mists poured forth once more this time seeming even more furious than the first, as though the Mists itself was angry that it had been held at bay and unable to finish its grim work.

They pressed their steeds harder than ever giving all they had to outrun the Mists and then like a mighty tsunami crashing against an invisible wall of force the Mists came to a stop. There was pause and then silence.

As Daryn awoke in front of his uncle’s fireplace he knew he would never forget that day. Four years ago his life and all that he knew was changed forever. Everything had been taken from him save his teachings and his uncle, but even that would soon change.

More story takes place at this point, but to make a long story short I will give a general overview of the rest of Daryn's story.

His uncle had been having a dark dream, something was calling to him, and he felt he must go and face it. Daryn went with him and their journey took them to the Eldeen Reaches, more specifically to the Gloaming. It was here that his uncle faced the darkness and lost. You see the darkness did not truly seek the uncle but Daryn. (I will perhaps explain why later, but for now it’s unimportant). In the proceeding moments of his uncles defeat Daryn try's to take action but to no avail the last things he sees are his uncle falling to the darkeness and everything fading to black.

This was Daryn's Prelude and we roleplayed it out just he and I. The next part is Elora's story. All of the events that have been and will be mentioned here occur in such a way that they all arrive at the same place and the same moment in time simultaneously.

I have to go right now, I will finish up a bit later this evening.

Stay tuned!

Alright I'm back. Let us begin Elora's tale. And it went thus.

Elora was born in the small town of Wolfs Paw in the Eastern Reaches of the Eldeen. Her fathers name Inialos and her mother was called Ashmmi, but her tale begins even as she slept in her mother’s womb.

You see, her family worked the soil, but this seasons harvest had been lean. Very little had the Dragon in Between given forth and they feared they would not have enough food to feed the little one that now slept in Ashmmi’s womb. But nature is not without mercy. For on the day Elora was born the land became fertile and the soil produced a bountiful crop and upon their doorstep was a sign the likes of which had not been seen before.

The sign was like a tree both fertile and green and even as they saw it, it faded. They kept it to themselves for they did not understand this enigma and reasoned that by some chance Arawai’s blessing had come upon their home. Saala Torrn, Koruun, and Maagrim each had a vision of the child on that night, but none spoke of it to the other. However upon that night unbeknownst to the other, they each began looking for signs and portents concerning this matter.

A year would pass before they spoke of their dreams. And so it came to pass during a Gatekeeper time of fellowship during the Month of Im’yi (which means “First Month” in Druidic); a time when the Gatekeepers of old, the ones of power reinfuse the seals of Xoriat, that they spoke of these matters, and each was amazed that their dream was like the others.

They decided to watch the child for a time until all seemed appropriate. When the time was right they called for Salina of their Sect; a beautiful woman with honey golden hair and a walker of Dreams. They informed her that her time had come to take the first steps of her journey to serve the Dragon in Between and after a time of fellowship with the Elders of the sect she went, with the charge to bring this child to Greenheart, for it was time for the child to begin her training.

It was in the forth year of Elora's life that Salina arrived in Wolfs Paw, upon her parent’s doorstep, with a gentle rap upon the door her parents came forth and after words and a time invited her in. Elora watched as the woman with honey golden hair came to her home and entered it, but thought little of it. Though soon enough curiosity got the best of her and off she went do what children do best; eaves drop. :) As hard as she tried though she could make out no words and after a time and trying to reposition herself many times to get closer and hear better she finally gave up.

She went back to her playing and not long after the honey haired woman appeared once again, this time leaving her parents home and walking towards her. The woman introduced herself and told Elora her name was Salina. They made casual small talk and in time Salina told Elora why she had come. (We roleplayed this out. Actually the lion share of what is above was roleplayed out; this was Elora's Prelude. Neither Elora nor the player of her character however knows of the events that transpired on the day that Elora was born.) I'm going to speed things up a bit at this point and give just the core points of what happened next so that the gist of the story can be communicated.

Salina tells Elora she has been chosen to come to a special place.

Salina takes Elora to the Towering Wood and from there to Greenheart.

Elora begins to learn the ways of the woods and the Dragon in Between. Her teacher is Salina.

Elora seems to have an uncanny grasp of the natural order of things, and the ways of the Dragon in Between seem to come naturally to her.

On the night of Elora’s 7th birthday a young colt came to her. Salina says Elora called to it while she slept and it answered her. Elora loves the colt very much and gave him the name ______________.

On Elora’s 10th birthday Elora receives a new teacher, her new teachers name is Maagrim, Maagrim begins Elora’s training on the teachings Vvaraak the Prophet and the Gatekeeper Sect.

Elora meets Koruun, and Saala Torrn the wisest of their sect.

Time passes. (Many Years)

Elora excels in the ways of the Gatekeeper Tradition.

Maagrim gives Elora the Oratoch; “Invitation of the Aspirant” Elora accepts.

Elora is charged to chose her hunting party, she shall be their leader, their duty, to guard the villages and towns assigned them, and for Elora to be their Councilor.

It is here that she meets Orok Vashruuk, called Dalumbar; which means “the bear” in the wild tongue, Kira the Nightwalker called Shwe’ takla, or “swift one” Khalas, simply called Khalas, his name means “silent one”.

Maagrim has a vision one night while within one of the Observatories of a child, a child upon which the stars aligned in way not yet seen upon the Dragon in Between, a child from the Dragon Above which walks upon the Dragon in Between and is called upon by the Dragon Below. The child is in great peril, and darkness will soon consume him.

Elora and her Hunting Party is called and sent to retrieve the boy and rescue him from this darkness, they are to bring him to Greenheart.

Elora returns the boy to Greenheart where he is nursed back to health.

Once he is well enough to move around Elora is assigned to watch over him until otherwise noted.

Elora is to take him to her village in the Valley of Poh-Toc-Lah, where he is to stay with them.

This is where the next game will pick up. I am looking for ideas of things to do with them at this point. I don’t necessarily want to advance the plot just yet but I want to give them things to do that would seem normal in the everyday life of a Reacher, or Gatekeeper Aspirant.

It must be noted however that several pieces that do advance the plot will take place at this point.

Elora and Daryn have finally met. They are the PC's. (The Main Characters)

Daryn receives his uncles Will via Sivis messenger. His uncle feared he might not return and therefore made arrangements that if certain circumstances where to occur that his nephew was to be found and the message of his Will delivered.

It is at this point in time that Daryn is dubbed a Knight of Cyre, and also finds out that he has a modest fortune waiting in the coffers of House Kundurak.

Also in this session by games end I will need to have introduced Oarsen Helmsworth the Explorer (Rogue) to the group; the final PC, and main supporting character. The game will end with them seeing him but not yet meeting him. When the next game session picks up Oarsen's Player will be there and the group will be complete.

I still need to figure out what happens from here as well.

So. In addition to what I need stated above I also need ideas that will introduce them to the world of Eberron and all that it has to offer. I would like to get them to Sharn. I would like to introduce in a nutshell the flavor of Eberron, the Urban side that is.

Does that make sense?

I tried to edit it down to something shorter to help with responses. I didn't see how a lot of it was crucial information.

I also know exactly how to get them to Sharn. Well at least Daryn. He needs Oargev to knight him to be a proper knight of Cyre. Also perhaps the nearest Kundarak vault is Sharn? I'm not sure where the heck Daryn is? (Still in the Gloaming?) Anyways to claim a sizable inheritance of that kind it may be necessary to travel to a major enclave of Kundarak. They aren't going to handle that kind of business at a branch in some small town. That's for kid stuff.

Olmed can be at the Kunarak enclave trying to retrieve some money he claims is his but really he stole some letters of credit or something and Kundarak is having none of it so a scene is made and Olmed flees and gets away. Or something like that.

Both Elora and Daryn could meet on the lightning rail. If Elora needs to get the child to her village quickly she could take it and Daryn could also be on it bound for Sharn.

So that gives you Sharn, the Lightning Rail and interaction with a Kundarak vault (ie a Dragonmarked house) there's a crash cource in Eberron right there.

To get them to Sharn, perhaps Daryn's gold is sitting in a locked box in the Kundarak bank there, and he has to go pick it up himself. Perhaps there is also something in the box that no one but the original owner of the box knows about. An heirloom that unlocks something important/has something important inside it/etc. For instance, it may need a guardian in every generation of the family, and the original owner picked Daryn as this generation's heir. Maybe there's a cryptic note attached.

Alternatively.

Someone could get a vision. A vision that involves the next character, the explorer. They interpret it to mean that he holds the next step in what must be done with The Child That Everyone Has ALl These Omens About. The Explorer happens to be on his way somewhere, which will lead To Sharn.

As to doing regular stuff for a Gatekeeper?

The druid is basically the religious head honcho of the area. Maybe the high druid of her village is currently busy (On a vision quest? Hunting an Aberrant?) and she needs to do the Day to Day thing - run a wedding ceremony (that involves planting a tree to represent the combination of soil and water to create life of the inevitable birth, and the long life of the tree represents the long lasting union of wedding). Or a funeral. She could bless the earth of a garden someone is about to plant for their food. Have her deliver a baby (humanoid or otherwise - druids double as animal husbandry, and someone may need help delivering a calf). Maybe a new well has been dug, so they need her to bless it before it can be drank.

If you want to make things a little darker, maybe the baby that is birthed is deformed. Given that Gatekeepers are very much anti-aberration, they might see deformity/mutation as Daelkyr corruption, and the procedure is to destroy the child.

These are the people that created the Horrid template. :) I don't think they automatically assume ugly and deformed is evil and from Xoriat.

Horrid appears to be warped via magic and selective breeding, not evil taint of chaos.

I wouldn't classify "Ugly" = mutated. The big guy from "The Goonies" is ugly. A child that's albino isn't going to be killed, but something that's more ... broken might be. You know, the sort of thing you'd see in a circus freak show. Born with limbs in the wrong places (or missing some), having a third eye, etc.

Um yes that's what Horrid is... ?

As long as it was born naturally I highly doubt the Gatekeepers would consider deformity in children an evil taint of madness (You said chaos but that's Kythri not Xoriat). Horrid clearly shows the Gatekeepers draw a line between mutation and aberration. If anyone has seen some of the freaky animals nature can produce it is Gatekeepers and there's no reason their knowledge shouldn't extend to humans. In a worst case scenario before they order someone to kill an infant they'd probably send a Gatekeeper with the ability to detect aberrations.

My last post on this issue because I don't want to derail the topic.

You have a point. However, the Gatekeepers, like any organization, can have multiple opinions and stances in it. For example, there may be members of the Gatekeeprs who consider the Horrid animals a blight against the natural order of things (sort've like how the Ashbound see mage bred animals). There could be fanatical members of the Gatekeepers who see any mutation as bad or wrong.

Some or most may see it this way, but some may see it that way, etc. :) It was just a suggestion.

ABSOLUTELY. I was merely speaking what the general or official viewpoint would probably be in my opinion. :) There's always those annoying exceptions.

Ok, a few things, thanks for the ideas by the way. I think I like the idea of Daryn having to be Knighted by Oargev. Very sweet, I almost picture the scene in Braveheart were William Wallace in is essence Knighted, and only moments later, the other "nobles" are clamoring to see where is political views lie. Should prove to be very interesting.

Ok back to the a few things:

The Explorers name is Oarsen Helmsworth, not Olmed. My mistake. (Doesnt really matter though I suppose.) Whats in a name, if a rose were called by any other name would it cease to smell as sweet.:D Shakespere: Romeo & Juliet

Daryn IS the Boy that the vision was had about. Perhaps a better descriptor would have been adolescent.

Not quite sure I understood the whole they meet on the Lighting Rail thing, but I suppose with Daryn being the boy that may become irrelevant.

Well yeah now that I realize the kid is Daryn that is obviously no good. They can still take the lightning rail though. Part of the Sivis message/Will might be a couple of train tickets to Sharn. Or Kundarak might simply provide that as a courtesy to come claim your inheritance. So you can give them one "free" lightning rail ride. Then if you want it can just be a quick quiet time for the characters to interact or the train can get attacked whatever you feel like.

I like most of what you submitted.

Specifically the:

Not sure exactly how I want to do it yet, or what exactly the heirloom is but we shall see. Maybe its a map to a secret Cannith Forge, a contingency plan for Cyre if they were to have loss the War. I dont know, but I like the idea. :)

I also like the stuff for the Druid, but I not quite sure how I would apply it. You see Elora is to become Daryns guardian, he is the boy or rather adolescent that Maagrim had the vision about in the Observatory. He is urged to not leave her side, there are greater things at play here than he is able to understand, and it will be suggested that he must trust them in this and adhere to this instruction.

Well, off the top of my head, if you wanted to go along with it, here's a thought:

Elora passes him off as her "assistant" for a time. He's a squire, after all, and for the moment he can play acolyte. "Bring me the ebson salts" "Fetch the warm water!" "Here, hold this so I can get some light down here." "Sprinkle this around as I say the blessing chant."

In other words, the boy is doing "hard work" so to speak, and at the same time, bonding with Elora. That is, if she has the "work is good for you" attitude rather than the maternal instinct "Oh you poor cursed child, I'm going to get you some soup."

I want to take them to Sharn for several reasons.

Daryn is looking to receive his inheritance. Being that he is one of the newest members of Cyre's aristocracy he is going to be courted by the existing nobilty of Cyre. They will have questions in their minds about him; Is he a patriot, can he strenthen Cyre's political position, etc...etc...

There are a host of NPC's that I want to introduce them to in Sharn.

Lastly I just think "Sharn is just so hot right now":D and I have the Sharn City of Towers Sourcebook.
