I've made a Wizard with the Heroic Metemagic feat (Races of Eberron) and the Subdual Substitution feat (Complete Arcane).

Tell me if I am reading this correctly. Heroic Metamagic allows me to spend a number of action points equal to the metamagic modifier to spontaneously apply any of my metamagic feats to a spell I cast (thus I could maximize on the fly for 3 AP), right? Since Subdual Substituion has a +0, can I make all of my spells nonlethal on the fly without spending any action points?

If so, that would be awesome! No worries about fireballing in a crowded city.

That is correct. There is no minimum expenditure.

I like this...
I like this very much...
Except for me, I'll be using Heroic Metamagic and Energy Substitution [Fire] :D

It certainly seems as though you can add on any zero adjustment metamagic for free. However, this almost seems to good... maybe someone should ask Wizards?

Also, the Nonlethal Substitution Feat use +1 spell slot.

Nope, non-lethal substitution has no adjustment according to the BoED. Don't know if it's different anywhere else.

Thats weird, in Complete Arcane it's +1. I don't have access to my BoED (and won't till Thanksgiving), so can someone with both BoED and CA check and see if there is a difference between the feats? If there is no difference, well, one more for the errata page I guess ;) .

sure you can, however, you just acomplised something a sorcerer can do, without any help, with the help off two feats...
I'm not certain wheater it's briliant!
and I hardly find it a heroic action, so as a DM, I would not encourage it

Mercy for your enemy and being compassionate enough not to incinerate innocent bystanders and set fire to the city isn't heroic?

Uuhhhh ... right.

I'd allow it. After all, you're basically sacrificing a feat to do non-lethal damage, I hardly see it as game breaking. Unless, of course, you have players who know how to use massive amounts of non-lethal damage to their advantage A LOT! It would kind of suck if your players knocked people out with their spells and used that to intimidate people into giving them all sorts of things... On second thought, maybe I should put some restriction on it :P

well, I meant swasbuckling action...
Unless you find some cool desprition ( worth putting in a cool action movie), I do not allow action points.
but, if you can give me a cool visual effect, or praticulary well developt roleplaying aplication, then, by all means!
