I've been thinking about a further use for action points that would allow dramatic and heroic actions from spell-casters, namely the spending of action points to cast another spell (when he has run out of slots) that day.

So far my thinking goes along these lines;

Sorcerer/etc. (spontaneous casting); Spend 2 action points to cast another spell of any level (just like the "another use of class feature option").

Wizard/Cleric/etc. (prepared spells); Spend 2 action points to cast another spell that he _had_ prepared, as though he had prepared it an extra time for that day. The spell can be of any level, as for spontaneous casting.

Further uses of action points for spell-casters (beyond spontaneous casting) could be devised.

No I think it's too powerfull to be able to cast another of you'r 1 lvl 9 spells a lot of times per day. You get a lot of action points on high lvl, and the wizards will be spending them all casting his lvl 9 spell a lot of times per day.

1) Spend 1/2 action point to avoid either AoO's or concentration checks for spell-casting.

" Now I've got you, foollsh wizard..."
"Or not."

2) 1 AP to cast a spell either silently, stilled, or without material components.

" No speech? No problem."

3) 2 AP to Metamagic (spontaneous caster) as a full-round action, not a 1 round casting time.

"Hadoken!"

Does that really matter? he does not get new APs until he gains another level. And at higher levels, the interval between gaining levels are much longer, which means he has to make those APs last longer.

Dude it's already a full-round action for a Sorceror to cast a metamagic spell, drop it to a standard action and were gold.
