| stone_dog09-19-05, 10:17 PM | Just reminding you all that "Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard" is out in stores this week according to both GameStop and Electronics Boutique. It looks pretty outstanding on its own merit, but more importantly if it does well then we might actually get our version of Baldur's Gate or Torment out of the deal. Personally I am hoping for a series of "Heroes of the Last War" RPGs. There is a whole warring continent AND a hundred years full of epic events and adventures galore that could make for amazing CRPGs and not impact all that much on the present campaign world. Anyway, go buy it. I just KNOW that thing will be sucking up all MY free time in the near future. ;) |
| GuruChaz09-19-05, 10:50 PM | I'm not much into strategy junk. I'm not that hyped about this game. What I'm concerned about is that Keith Baker collaborated on this game and did not collaborate on D&D Online which is set in the Eberron universe. Seems like it is backwards. They should have asked him to collaborate on the longer term game. |

| MysticTheurge09-19-05, 11:48 PM | D&DO is in Xen'drik. The continent of DOOOOOOOOM! Dragonshard is too. |
| Tek09-19-05, 11:48 PM | D&DO is in Xen'drik. The continent of DOOOOOOOOM! So is this Eberron RTS. Hehe. It seems like WoTC said, "We don't want you messing up the world, so you put your junk on Xen'drik!" |
| Eronthar09-20-05, 06:34 AM | I've played the demo version of the game. The intro movie and musics are amazing. And game is well i guess. But bit early to talk, when i'll play original version i'll give my opinion. And for the record, the game is not totally RTS, it is RTS&RPG. Like Spellforce or little bit Heroes of Might and Magic. |

Where did you find a demo? |
| Eronthar09-20-05, 06:42 AM | On one of our Computer Game Magazine's CD. It was a nice surprise. But i guess you can find it on the Gamespy or Atari sites. |
| Mad M.09-20-05, 08:23 AM | The Demo has been availible for a month, I think. It'd be nice if they came out with an updated version based on the release build of the game, though. I've been in Beta for the game since the beginning, and I think it's pretty darn cool. Just keep in mind that it's not heavily based on the actual D&D rules, more of the ideas and cool stuff of the game and Eberron. (ie, Mind Flayer stats weren't extracted from the monster manual, but they are cool looking squid monsters who stun you and eat your brains) |
| Mad M.09-21-05, 07:58 PM | First Dragonshard review at Gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/dragonshard/review.html 8.5...not bad. |
| Tek09-21-05, 08:12 PM | I'm a sucker for graphics, so it didn't really appeal to me that much. I'm so shallow. |
| Lina_Inverse09-21-05, 09:20 PM | So is this Eberron RTS. Hehe. It seems like WoTC said, "We don't want you messing up the world, so you put your junk on Xen'drik!" Exactly.Xen'drik is the land.....OF DOOOOOOM!Its where the developers can dump junk and say its all optional anyways. |
| anarco_rata09-21-05, 09:57 PM | gawd, i love xen'drik :D thank you for not ruining khorvaire |
| Streamweaver09-22-05, 10:49 AM | I really don't like RTS games so I'm not a great source for an opinion on it, but I didn't play the DragonShard beta. It was typical for an RTS but I didn't get much of Eberron out of it IMO. I'm really looking forward to DnD Online however. Table Top and MMOs are apples and oranges of course, but I'm interested in seeing how much of eberron they get into it. |
| Altaris1309-22-05, 10:54 AM | Er, what is 'RTS'? And I've tried to play the Beta, but could never get it to work. Apparently, I got in at the very end of the 'open roll-call' and fell through the cracks. Got set up, but never got a functioning game. :( |
| Eronthar09-22-05, 11:10 AM | RTS stands for Real Time Strategy. i.e AoE |
| Thrasher09-22-05, 11:26 AM | so has anyone actually played the actual released game yet? I am wondering if its going to be any good. I was a big fan of neverwinter nights and figured they would do dragon shard about the same way but they didnt and thats kinda what worries me. any heads up on how good it is? |
| polt09-22-05, 12:11 PM | Well, this isn't a roleplayign game. It's a strategy game. So people shouldn't expect something like BG, NWN or IWD. |
| MysticTheurge09-22-05, 12:43 PM | Keep in mind that the Beta was only the multiplayer version of the game and therefore had none of the plot stuff that "story mode" would have. A story, keep in mind, which was written by Keith Baker, so I expect pretty good things. |
| Mad M.09-22-05, 12:44 PM | And Yahoo loves it even more than gamespy "This game isn't good, it's superb". 4.5/5 http://videogames.yahoo.com/gamereview?cid=1991545033&tab=reviews&page=0&eid=397727 |
| twelvedrunkenmonkeyz09-22-05, 12:51 PM | When does D&D Online come out? |
| Thrasher09-22-05, 12:51 PM | it may be cool. just not sure. i guess iw ould need to play it for myself to find out |
| Grymar09-22-05, 01:03 PM | When does D&D Online come out? Not for a while, it is still in Alpha. Not that I'm in the Alpha program, of course. ;) |
