In a recent game my players (level 2: artificer, fighter, rogue and sorcerer) took over an airship docked at Stormhome docking tower. The whole thing was made possible by lucky (or action point induced) rolls. And through a complex set of bluffs, killing and use rope rolls the party actually managed to steal an airship with little trouble. They actually got away by tying up the captain and forcing her to do their bidding. Anyways, i think i went way too easy on them and i would like to know how difficult you would have made this sort of situation for the players. (later on the player's paid the price for their theft with several near death encounters and ultimately the destruction of the stolen airship so balance has been restored, but it was great while it lasted)

hmmm, maybe you could have had the captain posses an dorb of storms that she normally uses to fight pirates but she uses it on the pcs instead?

If they did this out of Stormhome they'd have an entire fleet coming for their heads for the shere audacity of stealing from house Lyrandar. They're in deep. Very very deep.

sounds about right. hell, they lost the ship by the end of the adventure anyway so its all good. besides, it sounds as if for their level they did pretty well. i mean, other than simply charming the captain... its really as simple or as hard as you want to make it.

i mean it sounds like they really did bust their humps to get the durned thing. short of a half dozen or so extra thugs to throw unruly types overboard, or having to try and move the airship without someone from the House onboard, sounds like you did what you could.

Stealing the airship is hard but not impossible. Especially for PCs. The truly tricky part is getting away with it. Sounds like the PCs accomplished something special using action points which is the whole point but eventually their bravado caught up with them. Sounds like you did it perfect.

Deep is understatement.

yeah the were i think 6-8 crew members aboard and the player's killed them all by either sneak attacking them as they went about their business or dividing and conquering. It was definitely masterful playing on the part of all the people involved.
