how does this work for a warforged - do they have blood? i wouldn't think so.... but how would you describe this mechanic in game? do warforged have other ways of achieving this part of the construction ritual? :thinks:

is this detailed somewhere?/am i just overlooking this information?

i'll leave this to others to ponder, or inform, or speculate.... thanks.

It's been said on the boards around here, that a WF could cut a small peice of his wooden self out, grind that up and mix it with some water to get the blood component down.

I think the whole deal with a homunculus requireing blood is to show how the homunculus is merely an extension of the creator itself.

I think forged have some sort of fluid running through their bodies (various sources mention this). This can be used to substitute for the blood.

I ran into this with the artificer in my party as well. I had the player track down another warforged artificer who had constructed one, and that artificer had, years before, captured a rust monster and placed it in a carefully constructed restraining device - allowing him to surgically rust his arm just enough for the 'blood'. Made for an interesting side trek adventure!

yeah, from my understanding forged have "alchemical fluid" I naturally made the color green since that's what I think when it comes to that alchemy and fluid.

has Keith Baker said anything on the subject (or will he? ;) ) here on the boards - i think it would be a good bit of fluff to have for "Mender" the warforged artificer that will soon be trekking around in the Eberron campaign i'm starting up here shortly.... that rust monster stuff was kind of cool. :thinks:

In the DMG (and SRD actually) it mentions that for the Improved Familiar feat an undead spellcaster can take a homunculus as their improved familiar, substituting their undead ichor for blood. If an undead spellcaster can create a homunculus, then there's no reason a warforged can't as well, using the alchemical fluids in their body in place of blood. Perhaps though their creations look a little different than the standard models... ;)

Nothing official suggests warforged have blood.

Anyhow, "blood" is fluff text. If the blood were absolutely necessary, there'd be some damage associated with getting it out. You'd also find it impossible for many spellcasters (liches, for instance) to create them.
