I got this module awhile back, years ago, really, on clearance. I was debating what to do with my Eberron game tomorrow so I pulled it out, read the cover.

D20, Penumbra
The Ebon Mirror
An Adventure for Characters of 8th to 10th Level
By Keith Baker

Reading it over...it's...

it's proto-eberron. A world turned topsy turvey, with noble orcs and goblins united against deranged elves and feral halflings...and the sacred undead, powered by positive energy. And let's not forget the order that collects artifacts...Argentum, anyone?

It'd be kind of ironic to convert it to take the PCs to a normal D&D world...but I don't think that'd do it justice.

This will take a lot of work...at least I've got 4 levels before the PCs are ready ^_^

Any thoughts yourself, Keith?

Actually, the question of how I'd adapt previous work of mine to Eberron is something I'd see as a perfect thing to Ask the Dreaming Dark. (http://www.bossythecow.com/askthedreamingdark.htm)

*browses* How do I actually submit a question to it? Or should I consider it submitted?

aye aye, sir!

I don't spose you'd be interested in hearing what I've done with the setting...I'm occasionally a rambler @_@

Please note that while I'm saying I'll put MY answers on AtDD, I'd still like to hear what other people would do with it!

Actually, almost everything Keith has worked on is 'proto-Eberron'. Check the Internet Archive for his work on Lost Continents, for example: the notion of 'villains that grow with you' is present there, as is a prototype of the Traveler's Curse of Xen'drik.

Looking at the Penumbra line from Atlas Games, you'll also find Crime & Punishment, with its foreshadowing of the Master Inquisitive Prestige Class.

Keith's been working toward Eberron for quite some time now.

Actually, I find an interesting contrast between the statement, "Keith's been working on Eberron for a while now" and "Monte Cook's been working on Ptolus for a while now". I believe Eberron contains a lot of the things that worked best over several campaigns Keith ran, and those same campaigns inform most or all of his fantasy RPG writing (because really, we try to get word out of what worked for us). Similarly, Ptolus is a book that grew out of multiple campaign's Monte Cook ran for friends, and lots of things have already slipped out in other settings, adventures and supplements written or co-written by Cook.

And hopefully the same is true of all of the best authors. They play the game, play in above average games, and write up and publish what worked best and was most enjoyable.
